Whitmer playing every day against one of the best defenses in the country IMHO. If he plays like he did the last 5 or 6 games we are 9-3. The D takes care of the rest.

Fuller is really doing a great job following the team. He has very good description in his articles and offers good insight into the team.

Sounds like the defense wont miss a beat. I think they may be as good as last year. My only concern there is pass rush but optimistic with willman gwtting into backfield every game i seen him in

Offense sounds concerning but i will take half an offensive line playing well than none of it.

Whitmer is a gunslinger qb. They are goig to make plays and throw int. as long as there are more td than int this year we should do fine

Rich you mean the last 5 games (going 2-3) where he threw 6 pics, averaged a 55 completion percentage with average gain of about 7 yards a completion?

Pass the pipe dude.

I know he's our starter but I hope he has improved 80+% in the off season. If his play is no better than last year we are sunk.

If Whitmer can revers his TD/INT ration to 16-9, from 9-16, I think we will be in great shape. A lot will depend on on the improvement of Davis and Phillips, and someone else (Foxx?) stepping up. Am worried about all the production and experience we lost at tight end though. I expect the line to be improved, simply because with the same cast, its hard to fathom them being worse.

So our corners will be more physical this year, Tymeer Brown is a legit NFL prospect and Obi is one of the best athletes P has ever coached. All that is in addition to Smallwood being one of the best LB's in the country and the D-line being the best unit on the team. Wow! (no pressure on you Hank Hughes)

If nobody can score on us we might go 13 - 0.

If the line can block for Whitmer, he'll be just fine.

His TD/INT ratio certainly wasnt all his fault

Seems like the safety position may be OK with Obi and Lee playing well. No mention of Knappe. Guess coach hasn't warmed to my idea of him as a tight end inside the 10 yard line. And yes, the O-Line is the key to the season. Who coaches that?

The high amount of TO's by Whitmer and Cochran, the lack of push by the O line and McCombs' lackluster performance concern me. Everything else sounds good.

Offensive line athleticism and foot speed concern me. We should not be afraid to make changes if we can't move Towson. As far as QB 4 years of Boyle may be necessary rather than 3 after a red shirt. Hope not as it would mean a tough start in the high profile games.

I really hope we don't have to see Tim in there at all this year. Just not fair to him being thrown in cold. Casey needs to step up if that's the case. He know's what the deal is and should be able to produce without taking the beating a steep learning curve represents.

Most of this sounded like it would have applied last year too. Comments on the QB, OL and RB mirror last year. Only real step up seems to be at the WR spot with an equivalent step down at TE.

Defense seems like it will be very capable and if a few bounces go our way, could be a better overall performance than last year. Big concern is pass rush but everything else seems to be chugging along.

I hate to say it but I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Maryland game turns out to be a carbon copy of the NC State game from last year.

If nobody can score on us we might go 13 - 0.

While our defense was top 10 beyond the 20, we needed to improve in the red zone. Also, we had several breakdowns which led to long drives at key points during the game. Add in the low amount of turnovers. These are areas on which the defense can improve. Understanding, that we lost a lot, improvements in the above areas may keep the defense in the top 20-25. An improved offense can also keep the defense off the field. If this happens we can surprise a lot of people.

I am very worried about our corners and teams going over the top, but it's great to hear about the dline. I still believe that the defense takes one step back but the offense takes 2 steps forward. We will bowl this year.

It will be interesting to see how quickly pp makes changes. Based on the last 2 years he is slow to react. Heck, if it was up to him gdl would still be the oc. If whitmer fails or gets hurt, I gotta believe we go to Casey, but if that does not work out and Tim is better how can he not play him?

I wonder how much this impacted Lagow's decision. I'm sure he saw what Fuller saw. Maybe he felt that he was not givin a fair shot based on Mr. Fuller's analysis. For QB's 1 & 2 all the talent but can't execute on the fly in 11 v 11 situations. Hope that this is not a carbon copy of last year's QB play with better play calling thrown in. Please let it not be so. GO DOGS.
