Not sure why this is a surprise..Tiff was a solid draft choice and Ketia was signed as a free agent.

The bigger surprise in Atlanta is that Coco Miller was waived in favor of Laurie Koehn.

i agree with Dish. Laurie Koehn? they must have seen something they liked. still, when a team is cutting, you never know what they need/want. i love that Jim listed all the UCONN alums in the WNBA... with Tennessee having 5 cut the past week, i think Rutgers or Duke may have the 2nd/3rd most now. anyone know offhand?

Atlanta: Tiffany Hayes, Ketia Swanier
Chicago: Swin Cash
Connecticut: Tina Charles, Kalana Greene, Asjha Jones, Renee Montgomery
Minnesota: Maya Moore
Phoenix: Charde Houston, Diana Taurasi
Seattle: Sue Bird

For whatever crazy reason, I heard sentiments from a small minority that Tiff wasn't a great draft choice. I'm glad they were proved wrong!

I am not sure anything has been proven yet. End of the season is a better time to make evaluations.

I need to check the exact stats, but my impression is that Laurie Koehn is one of the best 3-point shooters in the league. Tiffany may be Miller's replacement, with more athleticism, more youth, and a lower salary.

I'm just referring to those who said that she wouldn't make a team. And they were proven wrong. I understand what you're saying though.

Bingo, she made the team and the argument has been made null and void.

Koehn is a .449 career 3-point shooter. That's outstanding! She shot 7-9 in the Dream's first exhibition game.

I know it's a fact of life in pro sports, but I find getting cut for a lower salary in the WNBA to be kind of sad. It's not like anyone's making a ton of dough.

On recount:
My eight from Tennessee were Kara lawson, Tamika Catchings, Ashley Robinson, Nicky Anosike, Candace Parker, Alexis Hornbuckel, Shekinna Stricklen, and Glory Johnson;
Kelly Cain was missed, so that brings me to 9 former Lady Vols.

This is going to be a fun year in the WNBA to figure out the most productive players from respective colleges. UCONN was light years ahead of everyone else last year, and should be the same this year with 6 Olympians, but last year I think RU and Duke were 2 and 3. with Tenn adding Stricklen, Cain and Johnson, i'd expect them to take a run at either 2 or 3. but the kids RU and Duke have in the W are mostly really productive. it will be fun to see the stats as the year progresses...

Both Robinson and Snow are on the Mystics, but i just checked their site on WNBA.com and they list 15 players so they have yet to make the cuts.

Washington doesn't have a lot of height and in the first 2 games i think they combined for about 10 PPG and each played about 18 minutes or so. i wouldn't be surprised to see Breland and Wisdom-Hilton cut, but i have no idea how productive any of them have been so far since their site doesn't list individual stats at this point...

When I attended to Dream vs Tulsa preseason gm on the 5th, of course wearing my UConn Shirt, I was told that it was inappropriate for me to have a UConn Shirt. They also said I should leave the College Gear in College and represent by wearing a Dream Shirt. I purchased 5 UConn Shirts a week before the game, should I not wear them throughout the Season? ps keep in mind this is the first time in the Dream 5 year history, and me being a season ticket holder, that they've had a Husky... :)

Tell them you didn't realize there was a dress code and that unless they buy your clothing you'll wear what you please. It's their job to represent the team not yours. Geewillikers.

I'm with Ice on this. If you are wearing a UConn shirt, you are obviously a WBB fan. They should be happy to see you period.
