Fuller: Gabby William update; Nurse Visit

Jim Fuller spoke to Gabby Williams and sounds like she'll soon be cleared to play.

"I took my final movement test and I scored really well," Williams said. "I go see the doctor next Tuesday and hopefully he will clear me. I have been doing drills, all the drills that everybody else can do but I just don't play."

Jim has also been in touch with Kia Nurse's Dad and it sounds like they're working on a visit date with Shea and will likely agree on one tonight.

I know he went to see top Class of 2015 recruits Asia Durr, Katie Lou Samuelson, Napheesa Collier, DeJanae Boykin, Kalani Brown and Arike Ogunbowale as well as top Class of 2016 prospect Lauren Cox

Is Ogunbowale a new name? I was aware of the other ones, but Arike is another top 10 kid that seems to already be on our radar. And I was not aware of any kids from 2016 so Cox is a new name to me as well.

The plan they are executing with Geno right now is excellent. The staff is establishing a relationship through Geno now such that he can communicate with the recruits or parents later by various means and they will know him and will be aware of his importance to USA basketball and the demands on his time for certain stretches. It will help to insulate against misunderstandings of why he may not be able to be personally present in the future. A brief contact with a recruit by phone and a brief update on UCONN's continued interest and a couple of words about team USA and the situation is inoculated against exploitation by others recruiting a kid.

Geno puts on the full court family press on in Sept.......Loafers, no socks, sport coat, no tie and a great Geno smile and laugh.........Mom and dad are sold...Leaves an updated DVD on all the former UCONN players who are play in the WNBA and or Europe........Plus, former players who are now coaches in Div 1 schools......The Geno legacy continues.....

Unless she's moved recently, she lives and plays in Champaign (St. Thomas More), not Peoria.

When I saw the topics of Gabby Williams, with her major leg injury, and "Nurse visit," I got really worried about medical complications. I had to jump start my heart and resume breathing.
