Quarterback Bryant Shirreffs has mentioned after both the Maine and Navy games his comfortableness in the two-minute tempo offense. Does Verducci take into account what the players communicate in terms of style of play?

"No doubt, no doubt," Verducci confirmed. "It's a players game and part of my job is to put them in positions that they are comfortable in and can go out and execute, so there is no doubt that that has some influence. ... We want to be able to come out and start the game fast regardless of what plays are called or what tempo we are in."

Yes, please.

I was watching the game on an IPAd without sound, but who did Schafenacker come in for and how much did he play?

We would change the tempo of the game and for the most part that has seemed to be an antidote for that, but we don't want to strictly rely on that. We want to be able to come out and start the game fast regardless of what plays are called or what tempo we are in."

Yeah, no. Maybe I'm reading between the lines but he sounds like a guy working within pretty strict philosophical guidelines as to how we approach the beginning of each game. The tempo and the plays called can have a big impact on how we start the game. Let's start this game the way we finished (except for the last 17 seconds) the last one.

I think Vechery needed to out for a few plays, got dinged up.

His comment about Myers doing "tremendous in the run game" is a bit scary. Since most of our rushing yards have come off of BS scrambles on pass plays (without them we are probably averaging 2.5 YPC) - I would argue that nobody is doing a tremendous job in the run game.

Myers has been the worst of the TE's in run blocking this year -- and it's not close.

For the record, the offense produced 10 points on its own against Navy. Not impressive.

7 points off the fake FG which lead to a TD. You can make a case that the FG would have been good so it's only a +4 for offense.
7 points off fumble return.

UConn can't survive off an offense that can't produce 20+ points against BCS competition.

Time to put up or step down Frank. Outside the last few mins of the Navy game, our offense simply been offensive.

Tomorrow we are playing an ACC team and we need a W in the worse way. The question is will we come out firing or will it be the usual run, run, pass, punt we seen time and time again?

Refresh my memory. What were Bryant's numbers vs Navy?

For some reason (maybe cause it's gameday), I'm feeling slightly more optimistic about our offense today. I don't think we will blow the doors off or anything, and I still expect a close game in the 3rd quarter. From that point on is where I want to see both sides of the ball impose their will.

Again, I'm not looking for Oregon... just a basic "Edsall Baseline" for the O... haven't been able to muster that in years.

We're trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Edsall at least knew what he had.

Well this makes three weeks in a row where teams have blitzed at will and created chaos for the UConn offense most of the game. Someday UConn will learn how to block but I am starting to doubt it will be anytime soon. Why Verducci doesn't realize that and borrow Maine's and Virginia's throw short and fast attack to open thing's up is beyond me.

Because Diaco is a control freak and he doesn't allow the coaches to do their job. The offense has Diaco's name written all over it. I would love to see what Verducci could do if Diaco let him go!!

Do we really know that BD is holding FV back?
