There is NO REPORT that UConn is going to the ACC, just the mention of that possibility if ND goes to the ACC and they move to 16. Makes too much sense to actually happen.

Fox Sports Mailbag

"Connecticut has always been the low-hanging fruit if that conference ever chose to expand again. For one thing, it's a natural fit to reunite that Northeast school with former Big East foes Syracuse and Boston College. Also, while football drives all realignment, basketball is a bigger priority for the ACC than others. With the Huskies you're bringing in a four-time recent national champ along with the sport's preeminent women's program."

The rest of the comments aren't flattering to UConn, while technically accurate, they deserve context. For example, he states we only had "2 winning seasons in the Big East and AAC", but fails to mention we went to 6 bowl games, won two BE Championships, and went to a BCS bowl (surpassing what Rutgers accomplished in their time in the BE).

That in a nutshell is why everyone was(and Houston, Cincy, the Fla schools could be) picked ahead of UConn to join the P-5 ranks. While Syracuse didn't exactly light up Big East football they do have major bowl success which still eludes the Huskies(but not for long right coach Diaco?). Lets face it folks as far as the Northeastern D-1 schools are concerned UConn is still the new kid on the block not even being a generation old on the D-1 scene. So they have to put in time just like everyone else did. 20 years from now they will be writing about how it took UConn only a fraction of the time it took anyone else to develop and maintain a nationally recognized football power.

Some of the schools haven't seen a major bowl game in my lifetime. Why should it matter so much?

Because if you're one of the football powers (FSU/Clemson) and feel weighed down by the schools you're talking about, then why make it more difficult to make a playoff game by watering down the conference?

We've got to prove we belong by winning, we don't have the luxury of location.
