No need to recite all of Diaco's game mismanagement screw-ups - they have been covered here in detail and it's goes well beyond the last 17 seconds but the previous two possessions that created the need for a TD by surrendering a 3 point lead.

I will say as someone that knows a few of the players - they really do like Diaco - he makes them feel good about themselves. Most thought we would win 9 or 10 games this year as a reflection of those rosy color glasses. So let's not throw the baby out with the bath water.

Immediately, two things are needed:

1) A superb game situation special adviser on Disco's headphones - just focused on all the things he can't seem to keep track of in the chaos of a game. There is a legitimate argument that a well paid college head coach should be able to do that - but he can't right now - so let's correct that.
2) We need a seasoned QB developer coach - there is no substitute for having that theoretical extension of a coaching staff on the field. Similar to a PG in basketball - you need that leadership and wisdom between the lines. The process of getting plays in is broken and the coaches and QB need to take responsibility. Burning timeouts can cost games. BS can't think like a QB getting his bell rung every other possession - he showed yesterday that he could be a decent QB at our level if he operates in a good framework - when the framework isn't there or collapses it gets ugly. He needs to stay away from tucking and running so often - only do that very strategically. No sin in throwing the ball away sometimes.

I'm sorry, but the mere thought that we have to surround our head coach with other coaches or other team personnel that actually might get what's going on in a game, just so he might get it, is appalling!

First of all, if he can't handle figuring this stuff out on his own, I have grave reservations about somebody else trying to explain it to him through his headphones. He already uses headphones, does he not? Whatever he's being told through them isn't helping the lame play calling and clock management. Adding another voice might only confuse him even worse than he already seems to be in critical situations.

Second, you can have a sideline coach responsible for keeping track of timeouts, clock timimg, etc., but shouldn't we already have somone doing that? If we don't, then it's obvious coach Bobby isn't the right guy for this task, and it's evident that whomever is doing it doesn't know much about what they're supposed to be doing.

UConnNick - You made some good points - the current situation quite frankly is not ideal. We can either try to tweak the current situation or start all over at a critical time. Pick your poison, I guess.
