"Among active Division I women’s basketball head coaches, [Gonzaga's Lisa] Fortier and LSU’s Kim Mulkey each captured their 300th career Division I win in their 379th career game. Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma is the third-fastest active Division I head coach to reach 300 career Division I victories, collecting the milestone win in his 386th career game."

"Fortier ranks third in career winning percentage among active Division I women’s basketball head coaches with at least 300 career Division I victories at .792. Auriemma leads the group with a .885 winning percentage and Mulkey ranks second with a .860 winning percentage."

Always been curious about why she has stayed at Gonzaga even if they do want to be considered a "basketball school" as their conference is significantly worse than ours.

I saw that the other day. This accomplishment seems to be flying way under the radar. I didn't realize she was on such a pace.
I have always been curious why UW never made an attempt to get her to coach the West Coach Huskies

Yeah, I'm not sure if there was ever an overture from UW and she wasn't interested, or no attempt was made.

.-.
Auriemma took over a team that was the doormat of the Big East. Since a 300-86 start he's gone 300-30, 300-18, and 300-26.
This got me curious about Coach Staley's records.

South Carolina Only Stats
At South Carolina she hit her 300th win in 2020 with a win against Kentucky. She went 300-98 (82% win rate). She is currently in her second batch of 300 and is 193-13 (94% win rate) since Feb 2020. It took her a little under 12 seasons.

South Carolina and Temple combined Stats
If you combine her Temple and South Carolina records, she hit her 300th win as a coach in December 2014 in a game against Charlotte. She went 300-151 (67% win rate) over that span. She hit her next 300 with a win against Alabama in 2024 with a record of 300-34 (90% win rate) and she is 65-5 (93% win rate) while working towards her next 300. If that win rate keeps up, she'll hit the next 300 with a record around 300-23 around 2032 and her 1000th overall win around 2035 (approx 35-36 wins/season)

Please note that I used Gemini to calculate these records and I did not fact check them -- but they seem to be accurate from a bird's eye view.

Sheesh, these last 10 or so years, the guy is slipping…18 to 26 losses, SMDH. Time to retire Geno, time to retire… 🤓
