He was a giant in college sports. UConn was very lucky to have him,

As others have said on the basketball forum, he was very important in moving football to Div I-A now known as FBS and getting the Rent built.

Ehh, I think he ended up being an order taker who got more credit than he deserved. Plus he left UConn in the lurch at the worst possible moment.

He did a lot of good things for Husky athletics, but yes he left at a bad time and Jeff Hathaway was brought back in. That didn't work out too well.

I'd say he's one of the best AD's we've had at UConn. He had vision and foresight to continue to UConn athletics in a position to succeed. Then Hathaway destroyed all of that in terms of football.

Rest in peace Lou! He was a key to moving us forward. A bigger than life personality who had a vision. Many thought he was brought here to kill football, He understood football was the rain maker then and even more so today. Was he perfect no but who is. He did his best to make Husky Athletics better while he was here.
