Former Rutgers athletic director Tim Pernetti is getting $1.2 million in salary, plus an iPad, car allowance and more than two years of health insurance coverage under a settlement agreement. Link

Gotta admit I found that rather amusing. God forbid he has to buy his own Ipad. Wouldn't want to lose all those Apps after all.

Under his agreement, Pernetti is to be paid his base salary of $453,000 per year through June 2014 and a one-time payment of $679,500 in the next month. He gets the money even if he takes another job.

Sweet. He'll have another job before that runs out.

On a related note: They just appointed the independant investigator. That is a last resort damage control move that seldom works. Upstater, time to polish up the old resume and apply for the president's gig at RU.

Link - let's go to the video tape.

Rutgers's reputation as an academic institution falls more due to this. $1.2 million in hush money.

They're actually doing a fairly good job of sweeping this under the rug. All the local press here which covers southern NJ and NJ politics keeps repeating the same lie... that the 'alleged abuse' surfaced in Novemeber... when the AD was aware of it much much earlier.

Let's hope it's a full scale investigation even if the RU administration continues trying to sweep it under the rug...

Well at least they made it worth his while for taking the fall for the president of Rutgers.

Not so much the ipad as the files on the ipad which I am sure would be of value to the departing AD.

Or maybe, he just doesn't want to pay for Angry Birds again.

F.B.I. Investigating Former Rutgers Assistant

.B.I. is investigating whether the assistant at Rutgers who first voiced concerns about the abusive behavior of his boss, Mike Rice, tried to extort the university.

Murdock might be a dog in this too.
Probably not, so long as he went through counsel, but his attorney could be in trouble. Negotiating a pre-filing settlement is tricky and it is easy enough for someone to suggest that you crossed a line.

Wait till we get in the B1G. We'll be retroactively awarded a 2013 men's bball tournament bid.

The real reason why Rice was fired was also revealed. Rutgers was undefeated during his suspension last December, so it's clear he was why the team ended up with a losing record. The firing clears the way for Knights greatness next year, if they have any players left.
