I'm bummed we didn't go after him. Andrew is a D1 talent, who would have looked good in Husky blue. But he has to do what's best for him and his family. I wish him well and look forward to following his continued development.Andrew signed with URI today...
I thought he looked good in the championship game (only game I saw), but maybe we have better athletes coming in. Wish him the best at URI.I'm bummed we didn't go after him. But lets be honest, if we are "losing" kids to URI, then we are in much worse shape than I thought.
No kidding. UConn lost a kid to URI? What next, University of South Carolina loses a coveted recruit to Samford? Come on, we need to be competing with BCS schools for recruits not the NEC. Geez what direction is this program going in? And, all we hear is that PP is a good recruiter? And he loses a kid to URI? What a joke.
So...how do you know we "lost" him to URI? The only person in this thread who has any link to HS sports that I know of (Kris1) says "I'm bummed we didn't go after him". Doesn't sound like 'lost' to me. Sounds like UConn made a decision for whatever reason (grades, position depth, character issue, talent), that he wasn't the right guy for UConn. Not saying that the kid doesn't have the talent to play at UConn...just doesn't appear that we "lost" him to URI.
I know Coach P has struggled at UConn....but doesn't it make more sense to trash him for things that are real?

I was assuming he was being sarcastic. But if not I wish matos the best and I am VERY happy with this classI agree with you a lot but after the most recent commits it seems we are starting to compete with BCS schools and have one of, if not our best class. Now let's get some offensive lineman. They built this program and all the skill is wasted without blockers.
You need to wait till after National Letter of Intent Day(Feb 6th this year) before making a statement like that. You don't know who UConn has coming in.No kidding. UConn lost a kid to URI? I don't think it was a grades thing. But, maybe he didn't have high enough ACT/SATs to pass through UConn admissions. It happens, that's why I never went to Storrs. I had the grades (graduated in the top 20% of my HS class), but didn't do well on the SATs and couldn't get in. Went to UC-Avery Point, then transferred to SCSU, graduated in the top 5% of my class. There's too much stock in standardized tests, in my opinion.Could it be a grades thing
Are those the same people that told us Boeing Brown was a top QB prospect? The people that do this for a living, get it wrong more often then they get it right. And unless your paying for their services, they aren't going to pay much attention. Like I said, Matos doesn't have the body of work to truly judge him against his peers. If you watch him on film, he's pretty impressive.Maybe.... And I know this is out there.... The people who do this for a living don't think he's good enough at football.
