For the worriers re NIL on college sports

Thanks for posting this, interesting article. Someone mentioned in the WNBA draft thread that she opted out. Now I know the details about that.

This wasn't the main point of the article, but it jumped out at me the stark disconnect on how many parents think their kid can play sports in college or even pro versus the reality. Of course you hope for the best for your kid, but this seems like delusion on a national scale.

Ironically, the numbers were lower than what I expected which is a scary thought. It's a bigger factor than we acknowledge however.

Again, not the point of the article, but good for her for pursuing pharmacy. The last several years have taken a toll on the profession, and we need all we can get.

And I always like stories od athletes who geek out. I hope they make the world look upon us plain-old geeks more positively. :D

Maybe not, but it helps to show that we can't assume these athletes are taking a light course schedule while competing. One friend's daughter is coming out of her NCAA career with two degrees and a MBA, thanks to the COVID year. The more we talk about it, the less "unusual" it will seem, in my opinion.

Just curious, but has anyone been through a professional program where the professors' "you need at last XX hours a week to succeed!" was anything but hyperbole?
