To put it simply, this season has been a struggle. I, like many other UConn fans, have been overly critical of this team at times. We as a fan base have been witnesses to the greatest rise of a college basketball program during our lifetime. Jim Calhoun came in an turned a middling Yankee conference team into a regional power into the one of the best programs in the country. We aren't a blue blood, we don't have national championship banners from the 60's hanging in the rafters. Fans across the country will not associate us with the Kentucky's, Duke's, UNC's etc but we don't need that to validate our success. Even after winning our fourth national title last season, the pundits attempt to discredit our championship because we "didn't win enough" during the regular season. Instead of playing in a Power 5 conference, we've been relegated to conference purgatory. Regardless of this, we are still UConn and no one can take that away from us.

When times are tough, we have to dig in. We have a golden opportunity in front of us, and it is obtainable. Win four in a row, and get into the big dance. Fortunately, we have this opportunity on our home court. Let's show everyone what kind of impact we as fans can have during this tournament. Buy your tickets now, bring family and friends and make the XL Center rock. Our team needs us more than ever now, let's do this for UConn, our team, all of our past players and for Connecticut
