CBS announcers giving props to Rutgers and Schiano about coaching up players for NFL. Pats have three DB's in tonight's game. And Mohammed Sunu had a pretty good game for Atlanta.
So for all the bashing of Rutgers (and I dislike them strongly) and all the talk about HUSKIES in the NFL, UConn needs a major upgrade in recruiting. The Huskies need personnel that can beat P5 caliber teams, screw the Randy puts guys in NFL. Want recruits that win in college. Not worried about putting players in NFL. Thats a nice by product, but need to win actual UConn games.

Blidi and Nick Williams play for the Falcons, so there is that.

Kind of all over the place there Schiano at Rutgers won at about the same clip as Edsall at UConn.

Players that go to the NFL tend to be better players. You need better players to win. And you need coaches that don't freeze up like a deer in headlights with 17 seconds left and the ball at the 1 yd line.

This post started off giving me the impression you thought players playing well in the NFL is important, but then you transition to how that doesn't matter and we need to just win... what're you trying to say?

Botton line UConn has to recruit better. They need to upgrade from head to head with UMass, Fordham, Stony Brook and Central. Edsall was able to do that six seasons ago with DBs & RB's. No success with QBs or WRs.

No one hear is going to argue with you about our desire to recruit better. But, we also have to acknowledge that we are no longer in a BCS conference. The BCS 6 became the P5 and left us at the altar. Edsall has a much tougher recruiting job now than he did before. And Rutgers is still a dumpster fire but all their coach needs to say is BIG 10 and then we become almost irrelevant. That is our new life.

Reason #172 why I love the Boneyard.

Someone can take their (unoriginal) thought of: "We need to recruit better players, and win more football games" and make it into a confusing and contradictory post that 9/10 people can't even understand.

Just wait till Lashlee has us running the ball 50 times/game. TDH's head is going to explode because he's going to have to be the guy to introduce the forward pass to professional football coaches.

Translation: for all the Rutgers slamming and Sciano contempt, UConn needs to recruit more like them (which means an upgrade).

Uh, the two top teams in terms of producing NFL talent during the last decade of the BE were UConn and Rutgers. Rutgers was #1 (there are a lot more Rutgers players in the NFL than the ones you mentioned) and UConn was #2. Both produced 20+ players over that span, Rutgers was at the high end, and UConn was lower to middle. No other BE teams were in the 20s. Teams like Louisville and West Virginia were in the lower to mid teens.

We already have a made-up championship...

Please someone burn that with gasoline and bury the ashes deep underground.

Athletic Director Dave should auction off the opportunity to take a sledgehammer to that trophy at halftime of the Holy Cross game. The top 5 bidders each get 5 swings.

Would probably raise a few thousand dollars which wouldn't put a dent in the buyout, but we could donate it to a local charity.

UConn needs better players.

Not sure how 4 guys that Schiano coached 6+ seasons ago has any relevance to the discussion.

Rutgers has 5 alumni playing in this years Super Bowl, more than any other school. Bama, Clemson, and tOSU need to recruit more like Rutgers.
