Florida State Chronological Combinations

Vous avez raison. The other language spoken in my home is nihongo, which would make the response そうです. Of course, our daughter who is actually fluent would provide all sorts of comical responses.

When I lived in Boston in the 70’s, one of my friends and co-workers was of Japanese ancestry - both his parents emigrated to the United States after WWII. Quite an interesting family, with what I thought was an amazing story about how his parents met.

Another co-worker, this time in Wisconsin, moved to Hawaii about 15 years ago. His son started traveling to Japan, fell in love and married, and now lives there.

I’m willing to wager that there isn’t another fan board out there (in the USA) where the intricacies of the French language are discussed!

N’etes-vous pas d’accord?
D’accord, but my principal foreign language is German. I lost my fluency in French 30 years ago.

Thanks for this.

I'm guessing you're developing the list from the info in the play-by-play. If that's so, how about appending each list with the game time when it was made, like 4:45 Q1?
With substitution time, minutes and +/-.

It’s the beginning of the season. And certain players and lineups will improve. But right now, our best lineups are small ball lineups imo.

In particular, I am excited about a KK, K9, Shade, Azzi, Strong lineup. I think that lineup can really defend. And I think it’s a good offensive lineup too. I think it would give a team like UCLA fits.

@BBallF, I believe you may have missed my favorite lineup, which would be 8.5 on your list. Your 8 and 9 are the same lineups. You missed one in between.

At 4:39 of the second quarter, with the score, 33-23, Jana was subbed out for Sarah, creating the lineup of Sarah, Azzi, KK, K9 and Allie. That lineup outscored FSU, 14-2, in 3 minutes and 4 seconds, after which Jana was subbed back in for Sarah at 1:35.

In his presser (at 8:22), Geno says: "I love that lineup . . . . that lineup kind of makes us who we are."

So if I’m hearing you correctly you are calling on all former auditors to check BBallF’s detailed summaries after each game? On it!

Tracking lineups is kinda fun.

However as I sit here thinking about it It’s impossible to factor in the real reason a lineup is what it is. Is a lineup in the minus range because the other team inserted a couple really good players or did someone come out for a breather?

FanSince17 post #27 using every lineup determining the common denominator. The Big/Small group is about the best thing the data gathered can show.

Just thoughts rattling around in my head falling into a post. 🤪

That's a lot of informative data work, NUWF. Thanks.

The KK, K9, Azzi, Allie, Sarah lineup was the most productive, based on +/- of 12, of the entire game, even though three other lineups were used for longer periods. The starting lineup was played for the longest time with a collective +/- of 9.

Of course, it's only one game, as we all know, but it's something to keep an eye on and is of discussion interest to some of us.

Remember even Geno has said recently this is not an all game long weapon. I think it is the "break the game open" team.

Talking about tracking combinations...

In another thread I talked about developing a database system (not a spreadsheet!) with a script to import the play-by-play from a site like statsbroadcast so we know stuff like the player combinations, points scored by that combination, etc, etc - and could track these over the system season. (Edit: s/system/season/ Dunno what I was thinking!)

This way, once the scripts and reports are developed and tested the whole thing becomes automatic. Some manual intervention may still be needed, as there were errors in the HTML for the game I downloaded to have a look and check the feasibility.

Another poster said his 5th graders (what's that, 10-11 years old?) could do it, so I'll leave it to him!
