Hey don't call us a cupcake. If UConn is on anyone's schedule it makes up for everything else. Ask Harvard, Stanford, Maryland, Indiana and all the AAC teams. Whether NIT or NCAA selection committee playing against us is a major two thumbs up on other teams resume and added bonuses when evaluating.

You want proof? Hell, cuse lived off of UConn games all through the BE years, not scheduling any tough non-conference opponents.

Were they? I'm not going to disagree that Tennessee had a surprising run in the tournament, but they were an 11 seed and I don't think many disagree that they were appropriately seeded.

UK is very talented and does seem to be clicking but the SEC championship aside, not sure they were a strong team the first two games. Erratic team full of potential, that they seem to be starting to realize.

We all know that Fla is for real, but I don't think it's a coincidence that the two best defensive teams they've played (us & Wisc) beat them. Their offense is definitely not at the same level as their D. Keep this game in the low 60's and I like our chances.

Conference affiliation is at the top of the list of the least effective ways of determining the quality of an opponent. Exhibit A would be the ACC, which received undue respect by the selection committee as the tournament proved. The SEC did not receive enough respect. W/L, RPI, Polls...they are indicators that should never be used individually.

I like kenpom for some things when used with other stats but not for rankings. Tennessee never passed the eye test until the tournament. UK was obviously not meshing until late into the season.

Tennessee was 21-12 on the year including 3-1 in the tournament. They were barely in the tournament.

If you are going to discount Tennessee then you should discount us. Tennessee had a worse regular season than us, but started playing excellent basketball at the right time ( sound familiar?)

They were appropriately seeded based on overall resume, doesn't mean they weren't a load to handle as they got better toward end if season.

Same with Kentucky obviously.

I still think UF is a very good team. That is undeniable. I also think WSU was a very strong team. Their records backup the eye test.

One of the reasons the SEC only got three teams in the tournament was because Florida went 21-0 in the conference. Teams like Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, etc. were one win against Florida away from probably getting in. The SEC wasn't a bad conference, they just had one dominant team that made everybody else look bad. They've also won every tournament game by double digits. I know everybody considers Florid the tournament favorite, and they get a fair amount of respect, but I'm still not sure people understand how good they are. They lost two games this season. One of them was @ Wisconsin without Wilbekin and Finney-Smith. The other was @ UConn on a buzzer beater. When you look at this team, and how tough they are, and how many upperclassmen they've had that have come so close, they're really very reminiscent of our 1999 team. And if they win the whole thing, you're going to have to consider them in every "team of the decade" conversation.
