-> Three members of the UConn football coaching staff, including interim head coach Lou Spanos, and two student-athletes, have tested positive for COVID-19. Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Frank Giufre, tight ends coach Corey Edsall, senior left tackle Ryan Van Demark and freshman offensive lineman Will Meyer have tested positive.

All five members of the program are fully vaccinated. They are all currently isolating and doing well.

Two unvaccinated team members were identified as close contacts and immediately quarantined. All others who were identified as close contacts are fully-vaccinated and produced multiple negative tests.

Defensive line coach Dennis Dottin-Carter will assume the head coaching responsibilities during Spanos' absence. Dottin-Carter is in his fifth year on the UConn football coaching staff and previously led Delaware for the last five games of the 2016 season as the Blue Hens' interim head football coach. <-

This situation came about a couple days ago. Let’s hope no more players and staff get caught up.

This probably moves the betting line down… I would think

I hope they all get tested again. There have been many cases like this (Jets last year) where it was determined that the original positive tests were all false positives. Jets had 9 test positive last year in one day and they were all false positives.

I wonder if they are all asymptomatic.

Anyone know why fully vaccinated individuals are being tested? Is this a UConn/state of CT policy?
Here is the policy:

-> Vaccinated UConn athletes are not tested for COVID unless they exhibit symptoms. If deemed a close contact, they are not required to quarantine, instead made to wear a mask for 14 days (or produce a negative test in days 3-5). Unvaccinated athletes are tested weekly, monitored regularly and must quarantine for 10-14 days following close contact. <-

UConn football has to feel like Charlie Brown at this point.

The best part is somewhere in one of the threads someone said "what's next positive covid tests?" Stop giving the gods ideas.

It's not a perfect fit since it was specifically about Krajewski but...

Which means he'll get a positive Covid test and miss the UMass game, right?

UConn men's basketball undisputedly has had "mojo" moments where everything comes together, like 2011 and 2014.

UConn football has "ojom" where everything inexplicably turns to [excrement].

Geesh, will whoever took the Tiki idol from the Hawaiian cave please return it?

Put them on a separate bus tomorrow and keep testing them up until he time. Cripes put Spanos in an isolation bubble 8n the stands and let him coach from there.
There has to be entire sections in the stands free of fans.

Anyone know who the two are who were in “close contact”? They’ll have to be isolated and miss this game too, right?

We're down to our defensive line coach Dennis Dottin-Carter as our interim interim head coach.

Game on.
