One topic that has largely gone unnoticed is that for the first time since Stewie's senior year (2016), four of the five most storied women's basketball programs in the last 30 years (sorry South Carolina, but Baylor would be ahead of you at the moment) are in the Sweet Sixteen. UConn, Stanford, Notre Dame, and Tennessee have wone 24 NC since 1991 (accounting for no tournament in '20) and are all in the Sweet Sixteen. IMO that is a good thing for WCBB. Regardless of your opinion about them, it is important to have ND and Tenn have good seasons because they draw fans to the game and create rivalries. It is also no coincidence that all four schools, Baylor and S.C. are regularly in the top ten of attendance in WCBB.

Saying something positive about Tennessee and Notre Dame in the same thread has to be a bannable offense. Just gotta be. Say goodbye to pjclaw everyone. :)
Wasn't it better to beat ND and Tenn in the NC game than when they were down?...just saying!! :D

Now you have put an * next to Baylor and replace with LSU as the Bears took a major hit on attendance this year and will be lucky to finish in the top 20. In 2020, they drew 7, 929 per game, this year 4,534 per game. I am not thinking that Nikki Collen has the personality to draw in fans the way Kim did. Losing Kim did cost the school a lot of season ticket holders.

LSU drew 2,036 in 2020 and this year 7,167 so they will now be in the top 10. This is impressive by any standard.

ND is also struggling this year at 5,005 after 7,681 in 2020 but I suspect they will rebound next year after the last 2 seasons of mediocre results in 2020 and 2021. Attendance has a lag indication that good seasons show up in attendance the next year. Bad seasons also reflect a dim view on the team for the next year. ND ultimately will be fine now that Niele Ivey has her sea legs under her.

Interesting fact about Notre Dame: they are the only school, among those who have won the National Championship in women's basketball, with a winning percentage below .500 in the finals (2 wins in 7 tries). Tennessee is 8-5 and Stanford 3-2.
