Suggestions? People in the athletic department read this site. Maybe they'll take some suggestions.

If the mojo gods require first night mishaps, I can live with it.

I've been to 5 or 6 going way back. The best one I've ever attended was 98-99. El Amin led the team out of the tunnel for intros with tons of swagger. I said "Who does this kid think he is?". Highlight of the night, and of any First Night, was the scrimmage. They clearly didn't go near full throttle, but did turn it up a little here or there and gave a flavor of what was about to come that season.

If you're going to keep this event as a combined mens/womens thing? You'll never get anything close to that. It's a layup line and three point shootaround.

My school did a pep rally one year and it turned out to be fairly popular so they did Midnight Madness the following year.

This was a DII school so it was attended by a lot of players’ family members (including my parents) and local middle school teams, along with students. Midnight Madness featured a former player turned rapper who proceeded to drop F bombs every other word along with a ton of other derogatory lyrics.

Midnight Madness was discontinued there after that….

Most important thing is fan attendance...so I think best thing would be to announce First Night date and time ASAP...so that we fans can get it on our calendar and avoid conflicts...

Is 3.5 weeks enough time or should they give more notice?

They should give notice as soon as they set the date which I would assume was before 9/23...since some recruiting visits may be scheduled to coincide.

I wonder if it was a business decision to wait until after people bought tix for URI game which is the same week which some people may only want to commit one night that week...

Midnight madness was cool. I guess the ratings must not have been very good though. I also miss the 24 hour marathon of college basketball. The random Hawaii game and like 6am east coast games were always fun.
