Finally someone in the media gets it, I'm not so sure that CNN's view will be similar come Sunday

It's refreshing to read an article from a guy who knows all the facts. Somebody gets it.

Spot on article.

What I was gonna say. That really is the issue in a nutshell. It would be great to see people in the media outside of Connecticut with the same understanding.

Who has Emmert's email? This should be sent to him every day by all of us until they rule in our favor. We should also attach a copy of the complaint that will immediately be filed in district court the minute they should decide they're tough guys and want to flex their Napeolonic complexes.

This is the first logical piece of journalism I've read on the subject yet.

It would be great to see more of the media inside Connecticut have the same understanding. Instead, the Courant keeps delivering variations on the "Jim Calhoun, Bad Guy" theme.

maybe we should pump the crap out of this article this weekend pre cnn bs. link it everywhere u can on social media and espn and blogs type stuff. basically get ppl the facts before so cnn looks like idiots.

You mean Jeff Jacobs?:)

I believe this article should be forwarded to as many sports and news outlets possible. From Costas to the Horde. From CNN to the NCAA. Fans do have a voice. Do your part. Without many of your voices, Cox Cable still wouldn't carry SNY, but that change was made in our favor in a matter of days. Think about it. Maybe someone can post a massive list of email addresses that are influential in writing, news, and the NCAA. Be classy but stand up for what you Believe in!

Can someone dig up emails/twitters of local/national media and post?

This is a great idea.

I have never lived in CT, but the Courant is a joke. I get the feeling Amore doesn't like Calhoun/UConn. I think Anthony wouldn't have gone on ESPN and not mentioned double jeopardy.

Is there any reports/stories on Emmert & bad breakup w UConn or antipathy to UConn?

Would love for someone to send these links to folks in media. I'm not real competent on twitter other than reading but tried to paste story on Bilas' page.

As someone who was part of a similar grassroots type of campaign to get the truth about "spygate" out there, trust me, the media doesn't care about details or the truth. They care about site hits, page views, viewership and listenership ratings, and papers sold.

Isn't it also apropos that other schools were granted the waiver?

The complete obviousness of this injustice is the reason I believe that the NCAA must be acting based on a desire for revenge or a personal vendetta. I believe that the combination of the Huskies facing scholarship penalties from Nate Miles, and APR and then winning a National Championship plus the addition of Drummond as a walk-on, were the equivalent of poking a stick in their eye and mocking their rules. The punishment didn't hurt us. So the NCAA now ensures that we get the real punishment they intended.

The NCAA does a dance every year or so with one or more SEC football program, slapping them on the wrist for getting their hand caught in the cookie jar while completely ignoring anything that would require a true punishment (there has been at least one SEC school on probation for football every season since 1979 but you can count the true penalties on one hand) as they really don't want to piss off the SEC.

In the movie Syriana, one of the characters (in the effort his firm was undertaking to get the DOJ to approve a merger) stated "we don't actually need to perform due diligence. We merely need to give the impression that we have performed due diligence" and later, a DOJ rep stated "in order to approve the merger they will need a body" (someone reasonably important taking a fall). The NCAA is merely attempting to do something thaat they can hold up to the general public while saying "see, we are doing our jobs, ensuring that the academic interests of basketball players are a priority" while not actually doing anything. We happen to be the body that is required to give the appearance that they have done their due diligence. We are a perfect target as we are not a historical program at the level of an Indiana, Kentucky, etc. yet we are every bit as much in the public's eye as any school due to our very recent title and our success over the past 1 1/2 decades 9which is equal to anyone's) and we are not a member of a conference with the clout to worry the NCAA.

This entire farce is an attempt by the NCAA to tell the world a lie and we just happen to be the fall guy.

As was pointed out a couple weeks ago, the punishment for not meeting the APR threshold is the same as the punishment for paying players and cheating/plagiarizing under the coach's watch (as at North Carolina). This is a very odd situation the NCAA has placed itself into.
