Along with a picture of UCONN winning last year, and the site is even loosely affiliated with ESPN.

"A lot of coaches cheat. A lot of coaches lose control of their programs, or don't care to exercise it in the first place. But, in the history of the game, only one coach has had two Final Four teams taken down. This is a remarkable historical achievement. When Kentucky gets close to winning this year, I predict that nobody on television will bring this up, although I'll buy a cookie for the first analyst who says, "What's the over/under number on Vacated? I put it at eight months."

".....the fact that Laettner should not have been in the game to hit that shot. He should've been thrown out for deliberately stomping Kentucky's Aminu Timberlake earlier in the contest"

I'll buy a cookie for the first analyst who says, "What's the over/under number on Vacated? I put it at eight months." Almost spit out my cereal.

Regarding Chrissie... if it had been him being stomped they would have ejected the other player, and probably thrown him out of the NCAAs. Blatant racism from the refs. And you'll never see that on "One Shining Moment".

Good stuff in there. But I'm conflicted about the last part, where Pierce hates on "One shining moment". Yeah, it's dated and cheesy but when your team wins it, it's kind of the traditional icing on the cake. It's kind of like in Japanese anime movies, the end credits roll over an airy, sentimental song and slow motion landscape scenery. Though I do wish they would go back to the original Luther Vandross version.

I like Pierce. But I will never forget one he got wrong. On January 25, 1987 (JC's 1st season at UConn) he wrote in the Boston Herald that if, as expected, Cliff Robinson and Phil Gamble are declared academically ineligible UConn will put on the floor "the worst team in the history of the Big East." They were tossed the next day. Of course, two days later UConn beats BCU at BCU on ESPN. I loved the hire at the time, but that's when I was sure we had the right guy.

I agree with him about one shining moment thing, makes me cringe even after we've just won the whole deal. Cornier and cheesier than Cheetos.

I spent a lot of hours with Charlie when he used to cover Red Sox spring training. He was often in the bar (as was I). He loved listening to Irish music and telling stories. He had an amazing one about Pete Maravich. Very good guy.
