As Kibitzer's Bad Ass award unfolded throughout the year it departed from my concept of Bad Ass. The semifinal game illustrated the difference perfectly. The Bad Ass was Tuck; I absolutely agree in terms of what the Bad Ass represented. However, it was Samuelson who broke her foot on the first play of the game, yet continued on for the half and playing fairly well in the process. That's one tough SOB (OK, OK, literally a DOB, but we don't interpret Bad Ass too literally either).
That got me to thinking that next year, despite the growing pains ahead, may feature one of the toughest SOB squads this side of Rizzotti and Elliott. Nurse and Samuelson already have that covered, while all three of the incoming freshmen also show promise in that regard. Butler as well, despite needing some work on positioning and footwork, seems to have the tough SOB aspect of a center fully in hand.
What this means to me, as I mentioned once before, is that while this senior class of supreme Bad Asses were equipped to blow teams off the court, next year's team of tough SOBs just might be better equipped to win the close ones.
