UCF came in at 10. Not that it means much to us, but it is good for the conference.
In the first year of the AAC one of the teams finishes in the top 10. Although Louisville is leaving, they finished #15 as an AAC member. That's two teams in the top 15. If nothing else it commands some attention. It would be great for UCONN to be invited to theB1G or the ACC, however, we need to win in the AAC! I have said for along time (and in spite of ESPN), the AAC has potential.

If Blake Bortles and Storm Johnson had not declared for the draft, UCF would be ranked in the Top 10 starting the 2014 season. That’s good PR for the American.
Of all of UConn’s sports, football has the most potential with the AAC right now as admittedly the program right now is not P5 material thanks to Hathaway and the PP/GDL show. If Diaco can get quickly get the football team to 8 to 10 wins a year with a strong non-AAC schedule, it should really help UConn football. The problem for UConn is the other sports and fans. The AAC sucks for the fans because of the lack of any local rivals outside of Temple going forward. As for the other sports, men’s basketball is hurt by the loss of a quality in-conference schedule, which hits tournament selection time. The non-basketball programs are hit by the time and cost spent travelling all over the place. Women’s basketball is the least hit because that team has become such a national power, they can just about schedule anyone they want to outside of Knoxville.
