[QUOTE="CBus13, post: 4449255, member: 2999"] Okay...I'll bite, I feel like the big criticism for McGuff's teams in the past was no defense...He always had offensive plans and adjustments (for the most part...). But he's stated, and I've scoffed, that he just hasn't had the deep team he needs to play the style of defense they want to play. I never bought it because you should be able to adjust to your strengths, no? But it seems he finally has the assistant coaches and players who buy in to this system and it's making him look really good. I thought last season was a bit of a fluke winning the season title, but I guess not. I do think Tennessee and Louisville are two teams that just aren't going to live up to their preseason hype, but I have more faith in Louisville setting things right by the post-season. This is also one of the most experienced teams in the NCAA right now. They didn't come into the season with huge holes. This is also the first year since 2017 that McGuff has had multiple four year players. (Sheldon, Mikulasikova, Greene, and Harris – Greene and Harris have both redshirted one season for injuries, so only played three). So that's a lot of time to finally get a core group to buy into the system. So, I guess he's a decent enough coach, but I think he's paired with the right athletes right now in the right year. If he could just recruit better, he might have better year to year consistency. Next season they will lose Mikesell, they could lose Sheldon, they might lose Mikulasikova, Greene, and Harris. Then the next most experienced player is Taylor Thierry, who really has surprised me with her solid play. This season is really the marketing season for the teams of the future. What's been the most impressive thing from OSU in the last four seasons is the player development..I never would have thought I'd say that after the Mitchell seasons, but the players who have stayed for more than two seasons, have really seen an increase in their game.
