There was a graphic/stat a couple of games ago that noted that he was the only coach from a power conference that has improved his team’s winning percentage year to year for the last 5 seasons.

2018-2019 16-17 * DH Hired
2019-2020 19-12
2020-2021 15-8
2021-2022 23-10
2022-2023 31-8 ** NC

When he was hired he said he had a plan in place to bring the program back to prominence and he was sticking to his plan and doing it his way.
We are lucky we have him.

You forgot the most important stat. Two close games won. Two this year. It’s amazing. Shocking. Never to be beaten. I might be high.

We have the formula right. Hiring our next 1-2 assistant coaches this off-season to continue recruiting and developing talent at a high level well will be key.

All of our assistants have head coach capabilities--that's pretty rare even on a high-major bench. I expect that Tom will retire here, but Luke and Kimani deserve their own programs at this point.

Not sure I want Luke and Kimani leaving at the same time though, that's a lot to replace in one offseason. Kimani is going to be 50 and it's about time he gets the chance to run his own program. Luke hasn't hit 40 yet, he should wait for the perfect job.

Agreed. I just know that Luke was looking last off-season, so it's in the cards. IIRC NJhoops said he interviewed at High Point.

Make you ponder how Dan pulled this off, rite? I’ve not seen a better program builder since Calhoun.

Knowing what you said is inevitable, I hope they stay together to get a couple more titles for this program!

UConn bandwagon in full force, even a couple ACC guys agreeing with Fanta. I will say, if UConn is winning close games this year, it is as much a product of Cam Spencer being on the team as it is adjustments by Hurley

I hate threads like this after going 2-1 against low tier Big East teams
because as soon as we hit a rough patch they will be followed by hate posts .

We know this to be true.
Although I do humbly predict that St John's and Seton Hall will not be considered low tier much longer. (Especially if Hall wins today)

George B and Dave L were great bench coaches - but Luke and Kimani are better

First was talking to JC. Then hitting a short sick staff, who I’m not convinced are looking elsewhere. I think of Chris Dailey. She could have gone to pretty much any power school in the country but made the hof as an assistant. Luke may be the one waiting to take over in a decade.

We thought we were gonna lose at least one of Kimani/Luke last off season. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually, but we don’t really know what criteria they’re looking for to leave this comfortable situation.

Good points but I trust Hurley will know exactly who to bring in.

Fanta's UConn excitement is so extreme it actually makes blush.
It's his "John Facenda pauses" that give it import. It sounds like it's a documentary describing something that's already happened.

The thing that Hurley has mastered is the portal and bringing in exactly the pieces we need.

Cole and Martin

Newton, Calcaterra, Alleyne, Diarra

Spencer

Replacing a guy like Karaban is going to be the tallest task to keep it going.
Agreed, but the coaching staff has done a great job recruiting in Karaban’s position:
  • Stewart 6’7 freshman
  • Ross 6’7 freshman
  • Roumoglu 6’7 sophomore
  • Abraham 6’7 2024 recruit
Plus major recruiting focus on Aj Dybantsa 6’8 2025 recruit.
