----on ESPN 2. Just a reminder.

The game is also supposed to be streamed online at ESPN3 but I am getting error messages on that end ("Error code 311"). Will try again at 8:00 p.m. sharp.

Brunson playing well for the Lynx. Catchings looking good. January with a fantastic pass to Larkins who is playing well again.

A lot of fouls going uncalled (for both teams) but the Fever seem to be dealing with it better.

Disagree! Refs have been strongly pro-fever. Catchings bumps the player from minny with the ball 3 times, then they call an offensive foul? Then next play down the Indy center bumps the defender out of the way and it's a no call! Very biased officiating so far, which is strange as wnba refs usually favor the home team. Ticky tack called on Maya and Catchings, Zellous and January are allowed to play very physical ball

The refs feeling the fall out of letting the game be too physical:
  • Catchings got an offensive foul on Brunson after the Lynx had a good shot but over-passed;
  • Maya picks up her 3rd foul - it didn't seem like a good call;
  • Brunson tries to take a charge on Larkins, but it wasn't called (I didn't think that was charge, though)
  • Catchings sets a screen and a Lynx player goes flying. Catchings didn't move. They called the foul on the Lynx player. It should've have been a no call.
  • Seimone gets upset and gets called for a T.
Indiana is a good team, but the Lynx haven't played well and are still not down by much. I like Lin Dunn, she seems like a great coach.

Agree: the calls were pro-Fever in the 2nd quarter.

Fouls aside, the Fever are playing better basketball at the offensive end and are also shooting quite well. As is often the case, Minny is being scrappy and opportunistic on the boards otherwise it would not be this close at half.

Minny has also shown they are nothing if not resilient this season so we'll see what Reeve & Co. cook up for the second half. They need to be crisper at both ends to avoid going down 1-0. Indiana needs to keep Minny off the O-glass.

Maya needs to be more Maya-like :)

Too many defensive overplays by the Lynx. That plays right into the Fever's game. How many times in the first half did the Fever end up with the ball attacking an empty lane? Once is too many and it happened far more than once. On one occasion the overplay continued even as Phillips was driving into the lane, Taj vacated the low block, luckily for the Lynx Phillips blew the layup.

The other one keeps saying "nothing doing". As in "Larkins with the rebound...", and then if it's a turnover "... nothing doing."

And all the times the Fever's ball rotation has gotten them a WIDE OPEN 3 in the corner.

Wow, great pump fake by Maya to draw the foul, but they were down too much. Lin Dunn: "Trust me: they have their panties in a wad." Oh my. #StuffLinDunnSays

On further review apparently the quote is: Guys stay off the officials, okay? They've got their panties in a wad. https://twitter.com/lindunnsays

The Lynx got out-executed. They will have to bring more game to pull even on Wednesday. Minny doesn't have an inside player with the size to really hurt Indiana (Fowles, Charles, Parker, DeSouza) and a player like Larkins essentially cancels out Brunson.

I was impressed with Indiana's greater aggressiveness, their strength with the ball and the greater determination they showed in running their stuff. That and their tenacity on D inside eventually proved too much.

We'll see what Game 2 brings.....

Except in the 3rd quarter when they got a bit rattled, the Fever was patient and efficient in their offence while Minnesota relied on their individual players for great offensive plays. But it also helps that Phillips and Catchings have been shooting very well in the last two games. Another big difference was the interior passing of January and Catchings to get the ball into Larkins or Davenport in scoring position in the paint.

Very generous of you to praise a 6-20 effort.

1. The officiating was far too inconsistent. Called a lot of ticky tack crap while letting a lot of blatant contact go unwhistled. Also too reactionary. If you do not see it, do not call it.
2. Indiana outplayed Minnesota tonight. Their defensive intensity kept Minnesota out of their offense, and, they defended the picks very well.
3. Maya's three first half fouls all occurred 40+ feet away from the basket; Not very smart.
4. The difference in the game was Erlana Larkins.
5. I still like Minnesota to repeat.
6. Indiana has to wonder how they are going to incorporate Katie Douglas back into the lineup having won two straight without her.

I was thinking the same thing about Douglas. This team looks awfully good without her.

Yes, but let's not forget how very good Katie was before her injury. I don't see a problem. Will the gods decide it is finally Tamika's time?
