I looked for it twice in its usual spot and did not see it. Am I losing it or something? I did not follow up and look harder. Was it there???? Still down for maintenance? Did anyone see it? Do I need to check my eyesight?

Well, in my defense, I never sat in that part of the stadium before. But I was looking on the way in on the Mass Pike too, Definitely was not lit.

Ah. Actually it was exactly edge on from where we were sitting. Since I cared, but I did not care that much, I did not spend much time looking. More of a cursory thing. I had offered to bring as many of my kids' friends who had played on my teams, and it took several days for the head count because they are all grown up and have families of their own. Which meant that we were not in the UConn section.

It’s considered a historic landmark in Boston and is protected

Where were you looking? It's not like it's right by the park.

I remember a clip from the '99 All-Star Game where Nomar Garciaparra was recounting a story where someone asked him how close he's ever come to hitting the Citgo Sign. He said something to the effect of, "You know that's like six blocks away, right?"

He's not far off on the equivalency in distance. The Citgo sign is on the other side of Comm. Ave.

All that said, the Monster seats and signage obscure it a bit. I also don't remember it being lit on my walk from the T. Typically it's only lit in the evenings. Kickoff was at 11:00. Maybe it would have been different if kickoff was at 11:11.

If you were sitting at the 50 downstairs, it is blocked by the BoA long scoreboard.

George Washington slept underneath it.
That's interesting because he also rode past my house once on the Rochambeau Trail. And while your post is in jest, mine is history although apropos of perhaps nothing. ;)
