Starting Samson usually wins the tip, brings his energy, gets a few buckets on slips, and saves potential fouls on Reed.  If Johnson plays smart and with the determination he has been lately, you play him until he needs a break, gets in foul trouble, or if game conditions demand a change in pace and physicality.  Then you bring Reed and ride that.  Whoever is more effective in that particular game matchup ends up with more minutes.

I don't get why that's so hard to understand and accept as the best way to manage the 5 for us.  Starting Reed isn't going to be some silver bullet for our weaknesses, the absolute least of which is our center position.  The coaching staff sees it that way too, and if they thought starting Reed was the better way to go, they would.  They already do start him for the 2nd half when warranted.
