I count 94 players currently on the roster at the UConn website. I am assuming the 85 nubmer I hear of is Scholarship players - am I correct? Is there a way to tell which players are on scholarship and which are not?

With that being said there are 12 seniors on the roster so that would take the number of scholarship players to 73 if there were 85 scholarship players on roster today.

We currently have 21 verbals so going into next year that is 94 scholarship players - without talking about player transfer specifically that would mean most likely that 10 or so players on scholarship will not be asked backed - either by transferring or having the scholarship pulled - am I correct in that assumption?

The answer to your underlying question is 4. By my counts we have 4 remaining scholarships left IF (which will not happen) everybody comes back and there is no academic/transfer/quit/kicked off casualties. I don't know how many walk-ons we have but I have a depth chart of all scholly players plus the incoming recruits. If all the commits sign and everyone comes back that makes 81. But most likely there will be a handful of RJR's who don't return or underclassmen who don't come back for whatever reason. We could probably see another 7 or 8 commitments at most but more than likely that number will be about 2-4.

Your numbers are a little off.

I count 11 scholarship seniors (I'm assuming Mueller is still a walkon).

I count 73 total scholarship players (including Cochran).

If my numbers are correct we have room for 24 scholarships assuming zero attrition (which won't happen).

There are many walk-ons that you have factored into your high numbers.

No I didn't see your post until after I posted mine. My response was to Bonehead, who I think assumed we had 85 scholarship players on the roster today (which isn't the case).

I posted this on another thread in response to a similar question: http://www.sbnation.com/college-foo...cruiting-how-can-a-m-take-34-recruits-in-2013

Need to consider early enrollees and how they count forward or more appropriately - retroactively.

"Players who do not sign a letter of intent, but rather enroll in January for the spring semester as "early enrollees," don't count against the 25 if there is room left over from the previous recruiting class (for instance, if a school had two spots remaining by virtue of taking 23 and not 25 in a previous year."

Tyler Davis is talking about enrolling in January - maybe be a few others.

IMO - I see a large class to account for the inevitable voluntary/involuntary attrition.

I predicted a crop of 30 players in discussion long ago and got heckled. We've been numbers deficient in NLI recruiting cycle numbers starting back with the 2008 cycle. Pasqualoni started addressing it, and Diaco is finishing it this season.

There is a ton of good Diaco is doing. As soon as he figures out that offense is pretty important to winning games, and consistency comes from playing a starting lineup instead of a rotation, we're golden. Popping wheelies, we'll be as soon as he figures that out.

We will not see 30. Recall HCBD stating last year that he wanted "smooth" classes, and not 30 one year, 15 the next and so on. And I would presume he retains a schollie or 2 in his backpocket as a reward for a current kid (or 2) who busts his butt for the team and does things the way the staff wants.
