I, for one, would love to see Evina Westbrook join the UCONN coaching staff when her playing days are over.

I believe she has stated to have a different ambition than that after her playing days, something about fashion, entertainment and Hollywood.

She would be a great coach if she wanted to go in that direction. She really has a very objective perspective on the team which is rare when you are a player. I think we are however only seeing bits and pieces of her as a player still. Every game there is something extra or different. Her best shot is actually her pull up but we have only seen that sparingly. She is a great team player, commands respect, and really gets it.

E has certainly shown a lot of class in all aspects of what I have seen and read since coming to UConn. Her game has evolved quite well since taking a year off and undergoing surgery. She is all the positive things you folks have said on the BY in MANY threads.

It appears she is nothing that the ugly orange made her out to be. The sad side of it is that IMHO, she was undeservedly disparaged. As a student athlete, that injustice is just magnified. I must admit, with all the negative press she came with, I was concerned about her being a Husky. She has shown me how terribly wrong I was.

I am sure her game will continue to excel and barring injury, will prove to be our 2nd most valuable player this season.

I believe she will be successful in any career she chooses and I wish her much success.

In all fairness, I’m sure MSST fans would say the same thing about AEH after her transfer. There’s still a lot of nastiness on our side just like there is a lot of nastiness on Tennessee’s side.

Odds are, your current significant other would never describe you in the same way as an ex with whom you’ve had a tumultuous breakup.
Both ladies have learned, grown, and moved on, and their current programs are a little better for it.

I think Mama E wants an NC. I think she will stay to get one next year if it doesn't happen this year and who knows even then. My sense is that it is not about her, but about the team. You have to be so grateful she is a Husky.

Khalid was the hot dog's, "Hot Dog". I don't see that in Paige. Leadership? yes, Hot Dog, no.

Really? What nasty things have UConn fans said about her? Who is harassing her online? Did she or her parents cite fan interaction as a part of her reasons for leaving?

Most here are quietly supportive of her. I’m not sure what you are basing your statement upon.

Surprisingly enough, I’m not being sarcastic. I am genuinely curious.

Seriously? What nasty things have UConn fans said about AEH? C'mon, man...

I refuse to take this bait.

Nasty is a strong word to say UConn fans are being towards AEH, but there are people who have made comments about her style of shorts or taking upward of 20 shots a game, but then again most UConn fans complain about that type of stuff regardless of who the player is so it’s not really a AEH thing is it.

This board doesn't compare to the nasty stuff I've read about E on that board. They are calling her names to this day!

Then maybe don’t throw it out there to begin with? Moral equivalency is intellectually easy, but seldom accurate. Just saying.

Not sure why you're feeling the need to come at me -- all I'm saying we shouldn't be surprised that a scorned fan base's assessment of a player isn't the version of them we see, and that maybe we should be looking at our own before we both internalize how Tennessee fans felt/still feel about Evina and comment on those who have moved on from our program. Because, after all, none of us want to be judged solely by the comments of those who are unhappy with us.

I am not "coming at you"; I am disagreeing your post. Evina felt she was poorly treated by the Tenn fans. To suggest that her treatment was typical is unfair to her. Alternatively suggesting that UConn fans (i.e., this board) vilifies kids is unfair to us. The BY typically follows and roots for kids who leave the program. This board is well moderated and doesn't allow vilifying departing players. If you believe otherwise, cite your source.

FWIW Tenn fans we very vocal about how UConn fans "would see" Evina's character once she joined the team. In that they and I agree, although perhaps not the way they thought wee would. Evina has been an excellent, unselfish teammate and leader. We are fortunate to have her.

I never said that all transfers have ended this way -- I can't think of any disparaging remarks made about Gordon, Coombs, Butler, Ekmark... For the most part fans wished them well and many have kept an eye on them after they've transferred. The same thing with Tennessee and Collins, Massengill, Green...

The kind of transfer that leaves fans with a bad impression of a player (mainly because we're too much in everyone's business) are the types of transfers I'm talking about. We're quick to internalize the negatives about a player and then can't see the positive in them when they've grown and learned from the experience. There's a difference between a breakup and a bad breakup, and both Evina and AEH had bad breakups but have found greener pastures with other suitors. And we, as fans, just need to keep in mind what terms a player leaves on and how that may negatively impact our view of an otherwise great player, teammate, and person.

And how do you believe that the UConn fans and BY posters in particular contributed to AEH's "bad break up?"

Contributed? No. That was between her and Geno just like the crux of the Evina's issue was between her and the staff at Tennessee. However, do I feel like many of the issues that remain are fueled by fans? 1000000%. And the impression that the next team and fanbase gets is unfairly skewed by that noise.
