Ever wonder what Coach Calhoun's starting five would be if he could choose from all his players?

Yes as a player for sure, no one had a better season since. Dominant on both ends carried a pretty good Husky team to within 2 FTs (his own) of a probable FF. I didn’t say team results I said as a player he was the guy his last year.
Agree about Donyell 1993-1994 had the most dominant season under Calhoun. Thought you meant team dominance

So does this mean we can't do "all time UConn starting 5" threads every couple months any more?
Awkward GIF by CBS

Kemba at the 1
Ray at the 2-3
Rip at the 3
Donyell at the 4
Emeka st the 5

In the rotation
Ben 1-2
Caron 2-3
Thabeet. 5
Doran 1-2-3 if he had to
Cliff 4-5

Give me those guys and a chump coach like me could win a NC
Just imagine how good good a guy like Kemba would be playing 25-30 minutes or Emeka that had to worry about fouling
I chose Dinyell because at the 4 his length was incredible which made him a great rim protector .
People forget what a great PG plus shooter Doran was with size who could also defend
There isn’t a team in the country who could stop that team and scoring would be difficult I stuck Cliff in because hr could play the 4-5 . Giving me an amazing 15 fouls at the 5 without let up .

Bazz
Rip
Donyell
Dove
Cliffy

I think JC's lineup of Kemba, MSG, Ray, Caron, and Emeka win 7 out of 10, but I'd like to see this match up.

My man Caron Butler makes the cut
I loved him in 2002

I'm surprised he picked MSG over RIP, but I'm not going to argue with the GOAT. MSG it is, from now into eternity
How did Ben become "MSG"??

Time for UConn to select & put out a poster of the All-Calhoun team. I think we had the All-Century Team out 25 years ago - it was fun seeing players from all eras in the same team picture.

10+ years later it would be great to see all the greats in an All Calhoun picture.

IMO, Shabazz was one of the best college PG's of all time, he just doesn't get enough love because he had no NBA career.

Speaking of Rip, I loved his comments on Detroit:

Rip coming off the bench. Coach has lost his damn mind, lolz.
I kind of get it if you’re building a team to win in college.

His lineup gives you two elite shooters (Ray and Ben), two elite ball handlers (Kemba and Ben), and one do-everything forward (Caron) around an elite defensive center and lob threat (Emeka).

If it were up to me, Rip would be in my starting lineup. But he and Ray liked to operate in the area of the court, so Calhoun is essentially swapping size and a better all-around scorer for more speed, shooting, and playmaking.

Caron was an older/mature version of Stef Castle. I will always wonder what one more year of Stef, Donovan and Donyell would have brought. I think Donovan in year 2 would have been a problem for Emeka in year 3. The one and done Nadav was a real bummer.
