[QUOTE="azfan, post: 5263789, member: 7748"] Reviewing the link at the top of this threat provides some very provocative forecasting. Let's begin with the Huskies. If the settlement proposed goes through each school will be limited to 20.5 million dollars in athletic payments. One nuance is that if a school totals above that using the formula (22 per cent times revenue) they can fund additional scholarships and additional sports. As an example the Ohio State has approximately 40 million using the formula (22 per cent). As they have the ability to spend 22% of their athletic revenues I find it would be defined belief that they would limit themselves to 20.5 million per year settlement. That would suggest to me that they could invest approximately 15 million dollars in additional scholarships. Or ....... Other funding mechanisms. Wink wink The University of Connecticut however is at a significant disadvantage as they are currently at 6.5 million using the formula. Essentially what this means is that the University of Connecticut has about 20% of the resources as the Ohio State. The husky simply do not generate enough athletic revenue in the post portal in il world to compete for athletes in football or basketball. One could even forecast the day when revenues trickle down hockey. I mean think about it the Ohio state has so much money maybe they'll start funding a roster of hockey players The question becomes how does this impact women's basketball. Particularly how does it affect the Huskies especially after Geno retires. LSU, South Carolina. tOSU, Texas, well pretty much all of the top 25 women's basketball programs currently using the formula are above the 20.5 million dollars that the settlement envisions schools will limit themselves to going forward. So, these schools have wink wink money that the Huskies do not. Remember University of Connecticut is at 6.4 million. Ikr There is no way that the top 25 schools will limit their funding to the 20.5 million. They will either above board increase scholarships or continue beneath the table payments spending between a total of 25 to 40 million depending upon the schools. Wink wink Our Huskies only have 6.5 million. I would say after Geno retires perhaps the University of Connecticut might consider moving to the Big Sky or the West Coast Conference where there's 6.5 bill again would allow them to field competitive rosters in football and basketball.
