I read that piece earlier, which was very good. But I must add I hate and don't understand the ESPNW, 2nd class citizen page. The women belong on ESPN, no W.

What's weird - and friggin' annoying -- is that sometimes it STARTS on the women's basketball page, and then it disappears and ends up on the espnw page (witness the Moore/Whalen piece).

Paranoid folks would think they're TRYING to kill the page.

What a great article. Diana is truly the best in the world. I know team USA has lots of versatile players on it, but there is simply no one who can do what Dee does. I know orange fans will argue that Parker is the best in the world, but she's simply not. Candace has certainly expanded her game and she has a much better outisde shot and FT % than she used to, but as Geno said, it's more than just about what she can do.

She's such a tremendous leader and that's the kind of quality that isn't on the stat sheet. And I mean no diss on Parker - she's certainly in the 2nd tier of great players - which is why she's on the Olympic team.

I did not get a chance to catch the 2nd game, but i saw the first one. Dee is simply amazing. I was surprised by a number of things in the first game, one of which was how productive the UCONN players were. I'm betting the team has terrific chemistry and that they all really like each other. No egos on the team (at least there doesnt' seem to be).

BTW I'll tell you the biggest surprise - that Parker has pretty much been a non factor in most every aspect of the game. 4 points and 6 boards in game 1, and 6 points and 4 boards in game 2. She hasn't played 20 minutes in either game and has logged less minutes than Catch, Dee, Siemone, LIndsay, Tina, and Maya. I'm also surprised Fowles is only averaging 14+ MPG and 7.5 PPG so far. Charles has been more productive...

I've had the pleasure to watch Dee up close at F4s, but the game that stood out the most was an exhibition game between the USA team and Stanford at Maples (will have to look up the year, Wiggins Jr or Sr year).

Anyhoo, I was sitting mid court right on floor, close enough that I could touch players as the ran past me. :) Watching her play that close was really something. Her court vision and seemingly effortless, yet powerful and smooth moves was so cool! I saw her throw a chest pass from 3/4 court distance to teammate for a lay-up. The crowd was speechless. But what stood out of the most was her pure joy of the game, having so much fun, like an artist with all that God given talent, while constantly pushing herself and teammates to do more.
