And kids, if you don't make it, take heart: Budapest is lovely this time of year.

"But the question of who might be the next young point guard on the U.S. team has been asked for so long, some of the former candidates have moved on. Chicago's 28-year-old Courtney Vandersloot, for example, led the WNBA in assist average this season (8.1) and now plays for the Hungarian national team."

I'd love for them to give Chelsea Gray a look. Outstanding passer and playmaker. She was one of the 2 best guards in the league according to All-WNBA voters (unless you count Maya as a guard).

I am sure she will get a very close look. She is probably the best guard of the up and comers. Significantly better than Sims for example.

Chelsea is an excellent passer and great long-distance shooter. She was off in game 5 of the finals, but she clearly merits a look, as does her backcourt mate Odyssey.

The article specifically mentions the next PG for USA basketball, IMO the SF position might just be as crucial for the World Championship next year.
We still have Maya, no question mark there, but Catch is retired, Simone has a ailing knee that required draining before each game of the finals, Angel was a no show for camp citing the need to rest. That spells real opportunity for Kmac, KLS and Napheesa for the world championship team next year.

We have a surplus of good 4s and EDD can play 3 (if you can successfully hide her on the other end).

True but that still leaves open rosters spots, my assumption was EDD was going to be on the team. Might as well throw in one of the youngins for the experience.
