I believe that the BTN is owned by Fox Sports, a rival of ABC/ESPN.

You are correct, but they might have rights to some ACC at Big 10 games.

Home team's conference has media rights. ESPN has media Tier 1 rights for both conferences of course but Tier 3 rights go to the conference networks.
