I’m not usually one to complain about press or award recognition, I don’t think it matters much. But, no mention of Hurley in the top-15 seems odd. Especially with guys like Self, Izzo and Scheyer on the list.

I don't think they're allowed to do a coach of the year rundown that doesn't mention Self, Izzo and Scheyer.

Izzo, fine, but the talent level on Duke and Kansas gives you a pretty high floor to begin with
Self deserves credit this year for dealing with an awkward situation. He’s never thrown hasn’t lost that team despite blurred roles.

.-.
Hurley is only underrated by the national media because of his personality. If he wins his 3rd in 4 years, he enters the GOAT conversation imo.

This year though, I can't argue with what Hoiberg is doing at Nebraska. A team that has never even won an NCAA tourney game in the top 5 is impressive. Indiana football levels of turnaround.

Scheyer getting any mention is hilarious though. No coach in this country has done less with more talent than Jon Scheyer.

You do need a good coach to win anything I believe that. But Cignetti's respectable .630 win percentage at JMU doesnt explain his trouncing of every team he faced on his way to the title. He aint THAT good.
I'll give him 25% of the credit and will share the other 75% of the trophy with a few Dead Presidents.

It’s a strange world. INDIANA is the best football team in the country and NEBRASKA is one of the top Basketball teams.

Meanwhile Indiana hoops and Nebraska Fb stink.

Talk about an inversion

$$ and Indiana’s lineup included lots of fourth-, fifth- and even sixth-year players thanks to transfers and extra eligibility rules.

What are you talking about? Cignetti was 52-9 at JMU or 85.2% winning percentage.

No, Cignetti is that good and your percentages are all wrong.

Sure but Indiana had zero five stars and around half of the lineup were zero stars coming out of high school with no P4 offers. They ran over all the star studded teams.

Agree. But they were one of the oldest teams. It makes a diff. Especially in fb.
I still think it’s amazing what he did.

Yeah... he's a prince.

Give Indiana another year or two - Devries will have them back.

Hurley has a really high bar, seen as the best coach in the sport. This type of list is built for surprises & turnarounds, coaches doing well really well with a brand new roster.

Scheyer deserves coach of the year and he will win it. Duke lost a generational player and the top 2 rookie of the year candidates and haven’t skipped a beat. They are looking like a lock for the final 4 along with Arizona and Michigan.

Over Hoiberg at Nebraska? Or Loyd at AZ? Yea idk. Scheyer lost 1 generational player and got another.

Yeah, give him credit for coaching a large group of top 10 McD’s every year as they replace with their new crop which includes a top 3 NBA draft pick. But let’s see him coach up a lesser recruited bunch (which is never going to happen). With that talent he should be in the FF every year.
