I'm gonna guess that has happened previously...never! :)
We need to open the season next year. Okay, maybe the year after when this class has completed their oft-frustrating freshman year.

I am not sure about that. Top Talent freshman are showing they are ready early these days.

Weird how LSU as the National Champs have one recruit so far in the top 100. Usually, that gives you a bump.

I really like our two kids. I wish we had gotten Roberson. My fingers are still crossed re Strong.

Couple of big fish still in the pond that will alter the rankings but it’s good to see the wealth being spread around to many schools, healthy for the sport.

Love seeing new schools on the block high up in the ratings..... well one new school.

This might have already been discussed, but what has caused the turnaround at Southern California with regards to recruiting? Even this past offseason when Aneesha Morrow visited SC and had them as a contender before choosing LSU it made me wonder "why?". Now, I realize Gotlieb had some success at Berkeley, but that seemed like forever ago. Does she have some assistant coaches who are really good recruiters? Or, did USC start putting in a lot off effort towards NIL ?

USC has always been able to pull in some talent here and there. One coach after another failed to make much of it. They weren't terrible, but stuck in mediocre for at least a decade before Gottlieb arrived. It's LA or the school or whatever, recruits itself.

You could be right.

But, when was the last time USC advanced beyond the Round of 32? I know Texas won at Berkeley in a round or 32 upset when Gotlieb was there with some future WNBA players. It's one thing to win recruiting battles for in-state talent, but (to me) it seems like USC out of nowhere started recruiting similar to UCLA (coast to coast). Since the days of Lisa Leslie and Tina Thompson back in the 90's, I don't recall USC having much tourney success. I decided to look it up, and memory is pretty good.

Yeah, like I said mediocre.

Marshall and Akunwafo were both highly rated and were brought in by the previous coach. Pili was highly regarded. And Angel Jackson and Jordyn Jenkins. They've been rolling in front court players in recent years, and not all of them have been from Cali. There was Endiya Rogers out of Texas. That's all been fairly recent. My perception is that they've typically recruited better than it seems like they should be able to, given their relative lack of accomplishments since the days of Cheryl Miller and Lisa Leslie.

They had big 2022 and 2023 hauls, they were due for a down year, though they could still land Strong.

USC got some great kids but I’ll be surprised if more than half stick around. Big classes usually lead to many transfers.

South Carolina has a really balanced incoming class, and Texas with a couple of top tens should make some noise. Vic has been quieter the last couple of years but worked some brilliant magic earlier at MSU. With the right blend of players I think he could get Texas to be a title contender.

UCONN could catapult to 1 if they land Strong.

I do think USC kind of recruits itself...As for when Gottlieb was at Cal, I actually credit Boyle more for Cal's rise out of the cellar....she totally changed the atmosphere and along with the help of recruits that were the product of the previous coach Caren Horstmeyer: Former Cal coach is happy for her recruits Cal broke it's NCAA drought and went on to have several strong seasons including some good recruiting, a WNIT championship that dovetailed into FF (Gottlieb was coach at that point).

These days with the portal I think every season is going to be a bit of a round-robin, particularly when certain teams feature a number of top players...
