31. Kevin Ollie, Connecticut Huskies

For most of the season Connecticut was playing a level of defense that had few, if any, equals nationally. The Huskies appear to have lost that momentum in the past week or two, but recent history suggests it would be a serious mistake to count out UConn or Ollie. After all, we're still talking about a defense that has held conference opponents to 39 percent shooting on their collective 2s.

31. Phillip Nolan, Connecticut Huskies

For most of the season Phillip Nolan was drawing charges at a rate that had few, if any, equals nationally. Nolan appears to have lost that momentum in the past week or two, but recent history suggests it would be a serious mistake to count out Nolan.

We constantly bellyache about Ollie's coaching on the Boneyard - and rightfully so at times - but he really has done a tremendous job with our defense. Early in the season, our defense was subpar; we basically allowed a layup line against Maryland, and hell, even UMass Lowell dropped 80 points on us.

However, since the calendar flipped to 2016, our defense has been one of the most dominant in the country, and much of that was without the reigning conference DPOY. Ollie is a defensive-minded coach, and our defense will keep us competitive against anyone.

This team's issues stem from their inconsistency on offense. They don't make things easy for themselves. We're third in the nation in free throw percentage, yet we're one of the absolute worst at getting to the line (337 out of 351). We leave too many easy points on the board by not being aggressive enough attacking the rim. The problem is that Jalen and Shonn are the only players who have shown themselves capable of consistently finishing at the rim, and our other players are content camping around the 3-point line or taking contested mid-range jumpers. Our shot selection has been infuriating all season. Without easy points in the paint or from the line, our offense is essentially 'live by the 3, die by the 3' or hope our defense creates enough run-outs for fast break scores.

Without a doubt UConn has failed to live up to our preseason expectations to date. But more than any other fanbase, UConn fans know it's a long season, and an elite defense paired with an offense that gets hot at the right time can lead to success in March. We have the championship caliber defense. Now we just have to find a way to get to the FT line at a higher clip to take advantage of our elite FT shooting. It's been a disappointing season thus far, but I haven't given up on this squad just yet.
