Thinking about end of game scenarios, this question just occurred to me.

With the new shot clock reset rule where it goes back to 20 instead of the full 30 on an offensive rebound, what happens if you:

1) Start a possession at :28 with the shot clock off
2) Take a shot at :25, miss, and get the offensive rebound

Do they have to turn the shot clock back on to 20 after being off to start the possession?

I don't know if this has ever happened in a game and is largely academic, but seems like a weird scenario.

Once the shot clock is off, it’s off. A “reset” means the shot clock had been turned on in the first place, which isn’t the case here.

I don't think they "lower" the shot clock to 20 on an offensive rebound if it's between 30 and 20.
