I'm going to have to start calling Ekmark "The Mystery Girl". The one common theme regarding St. Mary's is that they do not keep individual stats. No wonder Ekmark is flying under the radar. I suspect she is going to arrive on campus and hit the hardwood and everyone is going to be surprised as to how good she is. I remember reading somewhere that she scored 6 threes in a game...but that is just it there is no hard record of her game stats... We know she is a coach's kid, she is a student of the game, she is a tall guard who can shoot the basketball, we know Geno recruited her and she committed early (she wants to play here). So, with that, I look forward to seeing "the mystery girl" in Husky blue and white.

Just my two cents, but I don't see her coming to UConn, and making an instant impression. I have seen video of her high school ball, albeit as a junior. She will need to bulk up, and make the major adjustment to the college game, just like most other freshmen.

cferraro04, I am guessing you don't fallow recruiting much because Courtney Ekmark is not a mystery to anyone in the college basketball world and is in no way flying under the radar. She is ranked in the top 20 of all the major recruiting sites and her hs team plays in big tournaments such as the TOC in Phoenix so she has been viewed by all. May have to come up with a diferent nickname...

Do any of you remember the confusion and misunderstanding that I and another poster had which was caused by the plethora of St. Mary's teams at Nike? Well St Mary's (Stockton) now also sports a similar 12- 1 record ( same as St. Mary's Phoenix). With one of there victory's coming last Saturday against yet another one of those confounding St Mary's ( Berkeley) at Nike. Makes your brain hurt.

I am quite aware of her rankings and her big tournament play. Here is her latest ranking #13, LINK. I was only referencing the lack of statistics regarding her play for St. Mary's... In fact, you can go to the web site for the team and each game has a box score with the other team's players box score and after it lists the other teams players it always says that St. Mary's has submitted their statistics...I find that curious that they don't submit statistics.

I was speaking tongue in cheek regarding her nickname as I certainly wasn't planning to make the "Mystery Girl" moniker stick....my reference to her flying under the radar was strictly regarding fans who are looking for stats following her games. It has been referenced many times that St. Mary's won but that there was no box score. While "Ek" might not be a mystery to anyone in the basketball world it is a mystery as to what her scoring average is this year...it is a mystery as to how many threes she scored in the last game...and it is a mystery how many assists she is averaging this year.

The team may not keep stats, but there certainly are stats for her out there thats others compiled. She is a dead eye shooter and is a true student of the game. Can't wait to see her play! It kind of reminds me of how excited I was about this years freshman, but I guess i'm always excited to see what our new girls can do.

I had been waiting for us to get Courtney Ekmark, and so had Geno apparently. He even told her SHE could commit anytime she wanted. That is pretty darn strong words for a soph. in high school.
I knew she was good as a freshman high schooler, and she WILL be a star at UCONN.

I think it goes a little deeper too. I do not think her Dad and head coach would allow her to go across country and play with UCONN and all those great girls if he did not think she was ready.

One poster said she really needed to bulk up. Are we talking about the same Courtney Ekmark. The Courtney I have seen is about the height & weight of Kaleena. What did all the experts say about Kaleena ? That she had a college ready body coming out of high school, and that goes for Courtney also !

GO UCONN GO !

Thank you Slimmer56...it would be great to see some stats on her. I think you can understand why I say she is "flying under the radar" and somewhat of a "mystery girl". Sure there are those out there who have seen her and know what she can do...but, by and large, there are many more who know nothing of Courtney Ekmark and are curious.

Here's a new video/evaluation of Cortney:

Let me see if I can find the game video on which I based my previous comments...

Okay, I found the video on which I based my statement. Keep in my mind that strong enough for high school does not compare to strong enough for college. Cortney reminds me of Ann Strother, who came in as a perimeter shooter. Was Ann strong enough for college as a freshman, you be the judge.

This video is from Nike TOC Dec. 2011, which St. Mary's won. It's the first 10 minutes of a game against a team from Olney, MD. Cortney is #22 in white. She is very well defended by a player at least her size, if not a little bigger. I'm sure she doesn't see too many six foot guards on a regular basis. Watch #22:
1. Turnover
2. Her shot is blocked
3. Missed shot, may have been partially blocked.
4. Clear miss
5. Loses ball out of bounds
6. misses layup.
Add to that, no rebounds, and it was a less than impressive showing. The rest of her team looks very good. I grant you that seven minutes of one game does not make a complete evaluation, but it was the only video on the net at the time.

The physical look of a sophomore midway in the year? Was she still 15? I would hope that in the 2 and a half years that will transpire by the time she graduates her body will fill out some. Probably has to some degree already. Some seem to forget she won't be a freshman for nearly 2 more years.

Good point. I was thinking she was a junior in the video.

I've read a few posts about her that talk as if she's a senior right now. In a way I wish it was so.

Seen her play a few times. She'll fit in well. She's going to be a GREAT role player. Great shooter, plays very smart, just get things done.

With that said, if she is your #1 or #2 option, not sure how good UConn will be. Luckily, she'll play two years behind the 2012 kids and will probably be a 4th option or so, and she'll excel.

Sounds to me the EK girl is getting a little too much criticism. I just don't care for speculation. I might be able to understand a little negative criticism if she was a Senior, but Courtney has not even played her Jr. year yet ! The comparison with Ann Strother (loved ann strother) is a little off imho.
I think Courtney is more of a scorer/shooter/playmaker and I see her as more like Kaleena than Ann.
I am not close to being as good as the Supreme Linkster, but I did find the latest stuff on Courtney.
Google Courtney Ekmark and you will see a video/article called Pros2Preps. My fave is the little teardrop going down the lane. Awesome !
I believe Courtney will be successful from the minute she steps on campus. She has the versatillity, the confidence, and can flat out put the ball in the hole !

I'd be more than thrilled if Ek turned out to be another Strother. AP AA Honorable Mention twice, BE 1st team twice, BE 3rd team twice. BE Tourney MOP, BE Freshman team, 1699 points (avg double figures all 4 years), 290 3pts (37.7%), yea I'd take that.

Nope, not a good comparison and if you are comparing her to Kaleena, you will be disappointed.

Can you elaborate? And who's comparing her to Kaleena?
