Edsall's Contract Still Not Ready, But AD Benedict Has No Concerns (Mike Anthony)

about 2017 ticket sales:

"It's too early to really say, but we're ahead of where we were at this time last year," Benedict said. "That says enough because if we had not made the change, that wouldn't be the case. We'd be way behind where we were last year. There's hope that we're going to be 10-15 percent ahead of where we were last year, at the end of the day."

That left a mark on Bobby D.

What was last year's total again? 18 k, right?

They should pay him per win. $100,000.00 per win seems reasonable plus an additional $250,000.00 for any bowl, conference championship or playoff win. You win you get a check. You lose you get nothing. You have a stellar season you make out good. Nobody shows the last three games of the season cause your team sucks you shouldn't be compensated. I know that's not the reality of the situation but it sure would add some incentive to "Win some damn football games!!"

This is all encouraging, but a 10-15% increase over last year is still WAY off where we were just three years ago. That's sad.

Winning is the answer and that can only come with time.

15% would get us over 18,000 which is a decent start. If we win right away 20,000 wouldn't be out of the picture in year 2

UConn announced Edsall's hiring two days after announcing the firing of Bob Diaco. Season tickets went on sale Feb. 13. The Huskies had a season ticket base of 20,000 in 2014, 16,000 in 2015 and 16,000 in 2015.

@JMick is right 15% more than 16,000 would be over 18k (18,400).

But that's not "WAY off where we were just three years ago."

We were at 20k three years ago. If we get back 10% over the next three years, we'll be over 21,000. If we get back 10% this year and 10% next year, we're over 19k, and nearly back to where we were 3 years ago.

The net is likely at least +25%. Any strong upward number this season is exactly what the coaching change was supposed to accomplish. After that it takes baby steps and wins to reach 20, 25, and hopefully push 30. I think it would take a P5 schedule to get any higher. After so many years, I just DGAF about Tulanes, ECUs, Tulsaa, or even Temples.
