The British Open is coming up in August. The story goes that Evian sponsored this event with a large purse for several years. At some point a few years ago they told the LPGA that they wanted to be a 'major'. If not they would not sponsor the event....period. The USGA/LPGA decided to eagerly accept this demand...or to put it another way...caved to the demand. The setting is beautiful...the course itself has gotten some flack about it not measuring up to deserve a major designation. [/QUOTE]
