While we are still early in the season, I thought it would be interesting to look at where the Huskies rank relative to some key NCAA WBB stats:
  • Offensive Field Goal Percentage = 57.09% (1)
  • Defensive Field Goal Percentage = 28.7% (4)
  • Scoring Offense = 89.2 ppg (11)
  • Scoring Defense = 48.5 ppg (4)
  • Assists Per Game = 22.8 (2)
The one category that UConn has historically been among the very best is Turnovers Per Game. So far this year, not so much. The Huskies are averaging 17.25 TO’s per game, which has them outside the top 50 teams. I suspect UConn will improve in this area as they play more games and players get more comfortable with each other on the court.

Thanks for the stat line. Very impressive with this young squad and this early in the season. Very impressive. I also agree, the turnovers will come down as the season progresses. More reps in practice and games. Those turnovers will come down. Would love to see the numbers in a month.

Massey has them ninth in offense, fifth in defense and fourth in the rankings. Curiously, Oregon has the top rated defense, which has not been their strength historically. I realize the rankings won’t mean much until 10 games in, but it is still interesting.
