EA drops proposal to license new CBB game; majority of universities would rather sign with 2K

This is bad news if you were hoping for a similar product as the ncaa football video game. 2K doesn’t plan to use every D1 school. Probably the power schools and a few others. 2K also wouldn’t be creating an independent title - their CBB game would only be an add-on to NBA 2K whatever year. Not even sure they would incorporate regular season/tournament play. Sounds like it’s over unless 2K changes their minds.

Agreed very bad news. 2k is just interested in another money grab DLC for their nba series. It's a shame. As we saw with the re-introduction of NCAA Football, I think there would have been some serious demand for a full fledged college bball game.

Uggh! Im not a fan of the 2k games. Guess ill be going the rest of however many years left in my life without a CBB game. Hope 2k makes a college game. Not holding my breath.

EA should’ve negotiated for basketball and football together initially. Big missed opportunity for them.

I don’t think 2K will use this as an add-on to NBA, they surely will follow the money and create something similar to what EA did with college football. The bright side is that a potential game will be here a lot faster, as EA would otherwise essentially need to create a basketball game from scratch. And while I think 2k’s gameplay is pretty bad nowadays, EAs old games were pretty horrible.
