No moral victories. This could have been an actual victory, but it's tough with only 14 points by the offense. The trick plays are not working and are throwing off the offense. Still, it was a close one. That's promising for the rest of the season. Let's go out and win some games!

I was expecting UConn to get blown out here, but they were competitive and they were leading going into the 4th quarter. This game was a huge step up from the Maryland game and all we really ask is for UConn Football is to be competitive. This game was a plus going forward.

Having said all of that, UConn let an opportunity slip through their hands. This game was there for the taking. I think Sammis needs to ditch the gadget plays because they were oh so awful and simply wasteful. Evers picked up confidence and made some nice plays, but I don't think he is a good passer and a natural thrower. He made some runs that Fagnano couldn't make, but he still doesn't see the field and go through his reads. The QB controversy is hardly settled for the fans even if it is for Mora.

Kicking has become such a science that high schoolers are reliably hitting from 40+ now. It's weirder that we can't.

I'm proud of how the team stuck with it for 4 quarters, especially the defense. The rest of our schedule is weaker than Duke. A bowl game and a winning season are very much in play this year. Regroup and get ready for next week...

It is possible to have a successful season if we run an offense that plays to our (incredibly obvious yet somehow elusive for Sammis) strengths and if the defense can continue to play relatively well. Evers's lack of accuracy and questionable decision making isn't great but can be worked around. Pryce Yates coming back at 100% would do wonders for us. Duke isn't good but they're significantly better than Temple, Rice, and UMass and definitely better than FAU, Buffalo, and UAB. Wake and Georgia St aren't unbeatable either, especially at home. There is a path to 6+ wins.

Mora should have gone for it on 4th and 7 at the Duke 30(ish). Even if he hits the FG (very questionable) you are down with five minutes left and you're assuming Duke doesn't score and you drove down the field again.
Lot of assumptions. 7 yards isn't 17. You're a 20 point dog on tbe road. Go for it.

This isn’t good enough, didnt run it enough especially that 3rd and 7 at the end which gives you a shorter fg or the option to go for it.

It appears going with Evers was the right call but then why run trick plays with Fagano is Evers your guy or not absolutly stupid calls by Sammis. There was good and bad by Evers, hate to sound like Edsall but he needs to stick with the basics. Unacceptable to have the kickers on the roster that we do.

The jump the defense has made since week 1 is very impressive
