Neither of these teams will be in the F4. Very apparent just from a few minutes of watching this.

A couple of things:

How was Elizabeth Williams the #1 player in her class? I just don't see it. On the 4 chance possession, Williams may have moved 10 feet total and boxed out one total person on the 4 Maryland shots. Her effort is not where I would want my star player's effort to be. The same thing on her effort posting up on offense.

Liston is a player - she flat out gets it.

If Jones continues to improve, she will be very good.

Hawkins is very good - great rebounding position at all times.

Go Duke. As to the final 4, Alex, what other top 10 teams do you think might make it? I tend to agree with you but...

Honestly, the only top 4 team i see even as remotely vulnerable is Stanford. Cal beat Stanford and might be the one team that could break through, but Duke, Cal, Maryland, PSU, aTm, and Kentucky round out the top 10 and I agree - don't see any of them beating any of the top 4 EXCEPT Stanford. I think on any given day Duke, Cal, Maryland or maybe Kentucky could beat them.

A lot will depend on the seedings, and if Tennessee can beat Kentucky and aTm, the would get the 2 seed. Having said that, they really continue to struggle against teams they shouldn't. Sure they will beat Arkansas, but being down 9 at the half against Arkansas... Ugh for them...

Side note Bruin - not only was Williams the #1/2 kid in the class, but I believe she was NFOY last season. I think most objective fans would agree KML is a better overall all around player as she's continuing to prove this year.

Cal definitely can. Kentucky is so frenetic that they could catch Stanford or ND on a good day.

I don't see Uconn losing in Storrs or Bridgeport, and Baylor can book their tickets to New Orleans. Stanford is obviously the most vulnerable of the top four, but ND can be had (irrespective of UConn's struggles against them).

People forget Stanford beat Cal pretty easily just a few days before they beat us. With Kokenis, we have a good shot, without her, not so much.

I think Cal will lose early in the Pac12 and NCAAs (S16).

UConn struggled with St. John's; Nd vs So Fla. if either team has a night like that in the elite 8, they could very well lose.

I would love for someone to explain to me how vernerey continues to get major playing time for duke. I don't think I've ever seen someone so error prone and lost. I would take Buck over her.

I'm sure I'm going to get flack for this, but what the HELL happened to Alyssa Thomas? I've only seen her play a few times this season and Kelly Farris did a phenomenal job guarding her in the UCONN game but she is nowhere near AA caliber. Missing open shots, bad passes, sometimes disappearing on defense, and hanging her head at times. Girl is physically there but it's clear something is not clicking

She pads her stats vs. Bad teams. Against good teams, she usually does not show up.

And yet some are still hawking her as a 1st team AA. As you said, the gifts are there and she is averaging 17.9 PPG while playing 33+ minutes per game. And IIRC, many of those big scoring games came at the expense of weak teams often in garbage time.

She'll probably be on some AA team - but I'd put Hawkins on any AA team ahead of Thomas. Hawkins averages more PPG in less minutes with a much better FG%. But people tend to remember the big name and it's hard to move someone down when there's so much inertia...

Yes, if Uconn is missing KML or Stef in the E8, they could lose. Otherwise, not a chance.

It feels like she's been at Duke for about eight years. And yes, she's been exceedingly useless for all of them. I'm sure she's a great kid and so forth, but she is not a very good basketball player.

She had a scholarship offer from UConn. Geno must have thought she's a good player.

Pure genius for Frese to put Thomas on Jones, that was like watching Dolson covering Jefferson. Jones had career game thanks to Frese

I was scratching my head when i saw that. I knew Jones was thinking "I can take this girl off the dribble anytime I feel like it". Its also good to see such a huge crowd... almost 16,000... be so quiet during most of the game. :D

Man, JPM is hard to like. Those tweets that were reported were incredibly arrogant and disrespect for the coach of a major university.
