I see on some draft sites that Duke may have 5 1st rounders and 6 overall draft picks. With 5 NBA 1st rounders they should easily be the favorites this year although I really liked the way UCLA looked over KY.
I don't think anyone has ever had 5 1st rounders in 1 draft?
UConn ties for the current record of 4 1st round picks (I think) and 5 overall in 2006 (Gay, Armstrong, Boone, Williams & Brown (2nd), but 2004 is maybe my favorite when we had 2 of the first 3 picks (Okafor & Gordon).
KY had 4 1st rounders in 2014 and 6 overall so they don't "own" that 1st round record. And of course UConn beat KY in 2014 with Bazz, Boat, Daniels, Giffey and company!
So NBA draft picks don't necessarily equate to winning titles....ahem UConn in 2006....sorry....& KY in 2014.
I think our talent level is starting to improve but no lottery picks since 2012 (Drummond & Lamb) is not a good thing to say the least. Would be nice to land Diallo otherwise it could be a couple more cycles until a lottey pick hails from UConn.....coming though I think.
Here's hoping Duke only gets 4 1st rounders in the next draft so we can hold onto part of that record.
p.s.....I guess this post not "OT" as I rambled on with a lot of UConn stuff after I created thread...hah.
