Duke and 3 Point Shooting

Duke leads the nation in 3 point FG% at 44.3%. UCONN depends heavily on the 3 in its game plan. How big will the 3-ball be in the game tonight? Does UCONN continue to rely on the 3 tonight or does Geno try to get Williams in foul trouble by pounding the ball inside?

The 3 point shooting strategy is quite different for the two teams. While Duke leads the nation in 3 point shooting, they have made 76 and taken 176. UConn has made 153 and taken 414.

Per game -

Duke - 4.7 made and 11.0 taken.
UConn - 9.0 made and 24.3 taken

UConn will try to work the ball inside/out. Threes will be a big part of the game strategy as always.

This will be a very interesting aspect of the game as Duke also defends the three well, holding its opponents to 29.5% from BTA.

Duke has tall defenders on the wings...that can hurt the 3, but should allow the interior to open up for athletes like Bria, Breanna, Kelly and Brianna. KML can drive and pull and jab step to make space.

I do think hitting some treys early will be key to establishing UCONN's preferred game flow.

They had a tough time early in the year giving up around 38% in the first 6 games.

Since then they have given up 6-12 50% against ND. The next best percentage was 38.9 against Syracuse.

Everyone else is 31% and under.

First 6 games 38%
Last 11 games 26.7%
