OK, So Kevin Ollie is a prolific recruiter...this is based on exactly what? People keep saying this but provide exactly zero evidence other than a couple of mid-level guys that we could get any time. Other than giving him one of many excuses why not wait until he actually does recruit a big time player to make that claim?

He got DD to sign without coming too the campus.. prolific is the wrong word

It's based on the recruits that Uconn has signed since Ollie joined the staff. It's also based on quotes from current recruits, high school coaches, and AAU coaches.

Now, you obviously are a known recruiting expert and clearly do not believe that Facey and Samuel are very good, despite the fact that Louisville, UCLA, and others wanted Facey and Pittsburgh, Tennessee, and others wanted Samuel. I'm sure you also do not believe that Ollie deserves much credit for recruiting Calhoun, Boatright, Drummond, Daniels, etc. because he was not the head coach at the time. But you've proven that when it comes to Kevin Ollie, there's no impressing you.

I think we are in very good hands with Ollie. I would have been fine with an extended contract, but I'm also fine with a limited one because: 1) Ollie is fine with it and 2) I think the impact on recruiting is minimal (if a recruit did not think Ollie was going to perform well enough for an extension why would he be interested in the first place).

Having expressed my support for Ollie, I now (regrettably) throw a bone towards freescooter. It's been obvious for a long while that Duffy is enamored with Ollie. Perhaps that is justified, but phrases like "prolific recruiter" are not accurate yet and Duffy has used his hyperbolic reporting to influence a greater groundswell of support for Ollie than otherwise might have happened.

I love how enthusiastic Duffy is about his job, but I think we as readers need to keep in mind he's selling to us as much as reporting to us.

Considering how the media and the NCAA have treated uconn over the past several years, I'll take Duffy's hyperbole and bias any day!
