Not saying Chad Ford is the best source, but thought this was worth sharing

The NCAA denied UConn's appeal of its suspension for the 2013 postseason Thursday. With UConn banned from the NCAA tournament, it's a strong likelihood that Drummond won't return to the Huskies. The question is whether he'll go directly to the NBA or transfer. Drummond is a likely top-five pick if he declares and could go as high as No. 2, so there seems to be a strong incentive for him to leave. However, over the past week, sources say he's been exploring other options.

That's just pure speculation. Another case of Chad Ford being a complete idiot.

If he's not comin' back, he's NBA bound. He seems to like college and UConn, close to home. I don't see him transferring. And I agree, Ford's an idiot.

See the thread Calhoun Speaks. While not 100% certain, he seemed to indicate that Drummond was leaning toward returning.

Why would he transfer? So he could sit out for a year and not go pro until 2014? He could just stay here and play 2 years if he wanted to do that.

Would the NCAA make an exception to the transfer rule for players in good standing who are affected by the ban?

He wouldn't have to sit for a year...

I don't believe he would need to sit (I also don't believe that he views transferring as an option). When USC football was given its postseason ban, Shoemate transferred here with two years eligibility remaining and was able to play immediately.

What a silly thread with all this back and forth about the transfer rule without anyone providing evidence. I will continue that trend. If you have read a single article in the Courant/Day/Postabout anything transfer related, you would know that only Senior's are allowed to transfer without sitting a year.

You can only play right away when you transfer if your old school is being banned from the tournament for the rest of your eligibility.

So only Oriakhi can transfer and play right away.

Per Register -

If it doesn’t change, Oriakhi, a junior, can transfer to any school without sitting out a season. Any player entering his final season of eligibility can transfer without sitting out a year if his team is banned from postseason play, per NCAA rules.

Would anyone be totally shocked if the NCAA created some "hardship" exception and allowed underclassmen to transfer without sitting a year? They created a new rule to ban UConn from tourney, nothing is out of the question when the NCAA and "rules" are involved...that being said I don't see Drummond transferring but anything possible.

It could only happen to us. AD transfers and they would change this "hardship" rule back to the prior rule the following year.

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked if the NCAA allowed other schools to pay signing bonuses for players leaving UConn.

Unless the fact that he was a walk-on makes a difference, he would have tto sit a year. There's no way he would do that. It would mean turning down millions of dollars twice. He either stays or he goes to the NBA.

You know, the walk-on thing might indeed make a huge difference. I hadn't thought of that.

He's not transferring fellas. It's either NBA or UConn. All this article proves is that Ford is an ignorant bag.
