Draft Express updated top 100 prospects

Brimah checking in as the 26th best nba prospect eligible for the 2015 draft. Givony has him near lottery (15) in a recent 2016 mock. Really excited to him anchor our defense this year. If he has worked on boxing out ( not with his long arms), that should keep him on the floor for a longer time. Could have some nicer numbers, something like 6-7 points, 7 boards, 3 blocks a game.

he is 2 years away. dx has him in the 2016 mock. still a much better prospect than 6'7 ashley who doesn't even protect the rim. *upside*

To develop some sort of offensive game. He'll be an NBA player but he's still too raw to get drafted next June.

Ashley is basically a tweener, not really great size as a PF and while he has a decent stroke out the college 3 point line, he doesn't have the ball skills of a SF. Ashley isn't a great NBA prospect at all.

Dieng is a superb player. Great court vision, passing touch and defensive understanding.

He's going to be a borderline all-star, and the best player out of Louisville in at least 35 years. If Amida gets that good, we should all be doing cartwheels.

Top list of prospects is different than actual mock drafts. Prospect list is an aggregate of the best available players with upside available for entry in 2015 (that doesn't meant they will enter in 2015).

Brandon ashley bring nothing to the table at the next level. Brimah has strengths like physical tools, rim protection, and upside. 7 feet tall 7'6+ wingspan. Ofcourse huge holes in his game like strength, but in two years he might look like a different player. Being good in college doesn't mean squat if you don't have a translatable skillset. 6'7 power forwards who don't play defense don't exist in the league.

Absolutely, my post wasn't meant to detract from how good Dieng is. I just think he's a reasonable prototype for Brimah, because, much like Dieng, he came in very raw and improved steadily throughout his career:

2011 - 5.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.9 blocks
2012 - 9.1 points, 9.1 rebounds, 3.2 blocks
2013 - 9.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.5 blocks

Brimah averaged 4.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks as a freshman. I'm not sure he'll make the leap Dieng did from freshman to sophomore year, but I think he could be as good or better by his junior season, and I wouldn't be surprised if his career trajectory mirrored that of Dieng's.

How would I or anyone else know that on this board know that Brimah is projected there in 2016? This is a projection for the top draft picks in 2015 unless I'missing something?

Ah, fair enough. And I think that, numbers-wise, you might be right.

But Dieng just has such a great feel for cutters and spacing on offense. I remember watching him single-handedly just ruin Duke in the Elite 8 that year.

He reminds me a ton of Noah. I'm not sure Brimah will ever be that sophisticated offensively (but I sure damn hope so).

I guess you kinda have to know how Draftexpress works to understand what James and I are saying, they're not projecting him in the 2015 draft. Alot of the intl prospects that they list won't be in the 2015 draft, its just simply their top 100 draft eligible prospects, that doesn't mean that they expect all the underclassmen and eligible intl draft prospects to make themselves available. If you look at their 2016 mock, he's listed there, just have to look at both and realize what they're doing.

Things can change, although Boat's facing an uphill battle being a senior and trying to make up a lot of ground. Hoping he has a great year as a PG, for him and for us.

Why does he need two years?

Because right now IMO Brimah isn't as NBA ready as Thabeet. I think it's unlikely that he gets to Thabeet's level let alone surpasses it by the end of this season but we'll have to see.
